Got to the Jacobs vs Rockford Auburn(Fred Van Fleets school) last night. Great high school atmosphere, wonderfully loud and you could almost feel the long Rockford basketball tradition pass in front of you. A lot of basketball junkies in the crowd. Everybody had a story that started with " Remember....." This tradition has been diluted a little lately with the growth of several private schools and an increase in the move to the surrounding areas, Rocton, Winnebago etc. A classic match up of height and power vs speed and speed kills. Auburn won 58-39 with a suffocating full court deny man to man defense. The players from Jacobs must have felt they were wearing two jerseys. Close at half 25-24 then Auburn turned it up a notch and forced 10 turnovers in the 3rd quarter.
Mr. Krutwig is a BIG boy and the good news is ,is he is a BIG boy and the bad news is he is a BIG boy. He had 26 points and 14 rebounds. Almost all of CKs points were right on the block. He has good hands and a nice touch on free throws. He moved well to set screens and to post up but never attempted a shot outside of 4 feet so hard to say if he has a 3 point shot. He is not really a shot blocker and not particularly quick inside. Did I mention he is a big boy? I mean offensive line big.
Seemed to have a great attitude, had to help almost on every possession against the press and handled the ball pretty effectively for a big guy. Kept his cool and seemed to have a high basketball IQ, made some nice passes. He is only a junior. At this point you would have to call him a true post player.
There was a scout from Marquette there last night but do not know if he was watching Cameron Krutwig or Treyvon Tyler the Rockford guard.

Everytime I hear about Cam I can't help but think of Toledo's Nathan Boothe. Someone who shredded the Ramblers in two games this year. Coming out of Warren Township he had to be at least near 275. But over the past four years he's slimmed down some and improved his all around game. I've read teams constantly double Krutwig but he's good at passing out when he needs to, but is also able to score when contested. Both good signs.

Between him and Simeon PG Evan Gilyard the small 2016 class has some interesting local names...

I certainly hope Coach is looking at him. Just in case, I tweeted him a clip of Cameron's player profile.

He sounds like he'd be the best forward on next year's team.

After watching Northwestern today he reminds me a little of their center ALex Olah in terms of his movement, jumping ability and strength. You aint gonna move him off the block that's for sure. Plus he is only a junior. I am interested to see how Rockford Auburn does and if they make it down State. THey played the best full court man to man I have seen in a while...they reminded me of those old Arkansas teams.

Henricksen says Krutwig would be a good fit at Loyola:

"Loyola: Cameron Krutwig

"The Jacobs big man has been securing offer after offer, yet the Hoops Report still believes he’s being undervalued in terms of being recruited by the right level college program. In this day where big men are impossible to find, Krutwig should be coveted by more mid-major to mid-major plus programs.

"It’s also a reason why Krutwig can appreciate the work and time Loyola and coach Porter Moser, who have limited scholarships in the Class of 2017, have put in with the senior big man. Loyola has made Krutwig a huge priority. A Krutwig commitment would be monumental for the Ramblers and a nice fit for Krutwig with how Loyola plays and how he would be used."

Nice find ahunte! Getting a young big time center like him on our team would be a huge recruiting boon for us. He would also have his freshmen year to learn from what will be 3-4 senior bigs (3 if Kirby is able/decides to graduate after this year) which would take some pressure off him while he adjusts to the college game.
