Can't say I blame them (especially Adgei)

there can be lots of reasons for transferring but I would think #1 is playing time and rank on the pecking order. So maybe this is an indication of the predicted ability of the incoming players. It also may indicate that coach had more players coming in than he had room for. If I am correct NCAA scholarships are a year by year contract. Would be a difficult thing to do but not sure how else you catch up other than consistently trying to bring in the best kids. On the other hand it could be as simple as a couple of homesick kids who wanted to play closer to home or heck maybe they didnt like the coach. These things always seem to take forever to find out the truth and I guess that is because no one wants to say publicly ( if it is the case) that John is transferring because "we took his scholarship away because we found someone better". Leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth.Or the kid saying" The coach is a jerk" burns bridges in the coaching community.
I thought Knuth was a pretty savvy player his freshman year and was a big loss this year. Everything I heard about Adgei was that he was very athletic but very far behind. Hope they find the right place.
Getting to the top can be a nasty business.

Trying to read tea leaves I heard the end of the year banquet was going to be April 12th a day ahead of the opening of the next signing period. Is this because Coach thinks he will have really good news? or because he wants to get out of town on the 13th?

OK, they are goners ! Could have used both--Maybe . Two things==Coach did not want them OR they did not want LUC. We lose two BIGS !! None of us really know what the cause of their leaving was. BUT this little thing might be a contributing issue of why we failed thgis past year--DISSENTION ????
I truly hope this does not hurt relations with our new recruits.

I wouldn't think this is too out of the norm. It's certainly not the exodus after our first year in the valley! Transfer rates are higher than ever and most schools have players transferring in and out most years. I personally thought Jay Knuth might have transferred after his Freshmen year as his playing time greatly diminished over the course of the season. Pernell was played sparingly through the season but you could tell his game wasn't where it needed to be for this level yet (especially offensively). He may have been better served at a JUCO from a pure basketball standpoint.

You only get 4 years to play college basketball and both of their futures playing next year were cloudy at best. I wish them nothing but the best and hope they have success on and off the court wherever they land next!

From the fan standpoint this does leave us with 3 openings. I would think a guard, a big, and save the next spot to try and a combo of Krutwig/Gilyard/Joiner for the next cycle.

I think it less dissension and more bad luck/low energy. There are many things that can contribute to that.

This transfer situation, as I mentioned, isn't shocking for Adgei. Sure, he may have been a bit behind in terms of polish, but there was no reason for Porter to sit him. There were some games that even having a warm body in there would have helped. So I'm not shocked that he's leaving.

As for Knuth, I don't think it has anything to do with Porter or the program. Knuth got plenty of playing time last year and his injury was a bummer but I expected him to be back in the rotation next year. I don't know if Porter or Watson have rules about in-conference transfers, but it wouldn't shock me if he wants to be closer to home. Not that he's far away right now, but (speaking from experience) Chicago and Des Moines can feel like a world away if something is going on.

Well Adgei transferring doesn't surprise me at all. I never understood why Porter never played him this year. I'm disappointed in I thought he would become a good player if he refined his skills. Knuth surprises me more. I figured if he was going to transfer he would have done it when injured not after this year. He would have been a solid player to help us with a little more size.

As I see it, it may have been dissention , perhaps caused by these two--BUT the bottom line is Moser has yet to prove to me that he REALLY appreciates the value of BIGS. He did well a season go with all our little guys BUT opposition caught on to us this past year--That and the two transferees were unhappy perhaps.
Moser is the problem in that Adgei never got a chance OR he never should have been recruited--either or both--It is on PM. If we keep our incoming Bigs and they perform well, it will change my mind, for whatever that is worth. Our little guys were coached and played so well two seasons ago and it all went to waste.
