Playing with our roster for the upcoming season, and seeing a lot of nice potential.
Nice combinations of big or small lineups.
Good blend of veterans and rookies.
Guess I am drinking the Rambler Koolaid.

Yup !! I'm in !! See my posts re us and the Valley sand WSU !! Gist of which is we are as good as anyone in Valley and better than most.

Hard to say how good we are going to be since we only have five active, returning players.

I definitely like the recruits on paper, but I haven't seen any of them play (hopefully in a couple months before their Spain trip!). To compete at the top of the league, we need one of the big men to play at Montel's level and at least one more to improve. I'm also a little concerned about the experience level of our guards. Custer is our only true point guard. Milt can fill in there, but I like him more playing off the ball.

I agree with Ahunte on guard concerns. Ben and Milt are the only healthy guards who are returning. Tyson may or may not be ready by midseason. Then it's Clayton, Bruno, Cam, and Jake Baughman (our walk on). Marques Townes would be a huge help if he could play this year.

I anticipate the roster actually utilizing the wing position with Ingram and Chastain. It's gonna be weird not seeing us have to play 4 guards at a time.

I'm mystified by the possible starting lineups.

Custer, Richardson, Doyle, Ingram, Chastain/Andres/Granic?

If we wanted to go really big for a stretch to create a matchup problem, we could have Doyle (6'4") running the point, Ingram (6'6") at shooting guard, Andres (6'7") at wing, and Rajala (6'9"), Granic (6'9") or Kirby (6'9") up front.

There's a real logjam at the shooting guard/small forward spot: Doyle, Richardson, Satterwhite, Chastain, Skokna, Andres, Jackson, and Tyson Smith eventually.

Given the available information I anticipate Andres playing the 5 spot and Jackson the four. If i had to guess the starting lineup for the first game i'd say it's:

Custer
Richardson
Doyle
Ingram
Andres

Though if Jackson is similar to CT as advertised i'd gladly take
Custer
Doyle
Ingram
Jackson
Andres

With Ben Richardson leading the second unit.

On paper our roster is so much more versatile this year. Way more variety in the front court (for example Gronic made 57 3's last year but still averaged 10 boards). If these new recruits are as good as advertised we're in great shape... Man this is a fun time. Is it November yet?

Truth to tell, we will be a changed team--Hopefully Porter will meld our NEW increased size to his style . I would hope that "his style" will be tweeked to accommodate--It has to be done just right--If he forces HIS system unchanged ( un-tweeked) we will be in trouble. I do NOT see this happening--He DID recruit SIZE foe a reason !
