The trip to Spain will tell us a lot of course--
As of now though--
We are BIGGER--Positive
Lack of experience--Negative --Too many newbies

There is more, which could be positive, but the trip to Spain will hopefully bring this out

Huge potential for this team---Cam Porter bring this to the forefront ??

I'm beyond excited to see this team in action. It'll be the first time since Jeff White's sophomore year that the offense will be run through a true point guard in Clayton Custer. In the interview Ahunte posted the other day Porter seemed pretty high on him; added to that we have the best recruiting class on paper that we've had in Porters tenure. There's a lot to like about this team, lets hope they can put it together!

I'm wondering about the starting lineup and bench minutes. You've got to figure Custer, Doyle, Ingram, Chastain, and Andres? Maybe Ingram goes to the bench in favor of Townes... or Richardson? Then there's the freshmen Satterwhite and Skokna.... and don't forget Tyson Smith. And there's also 6'5", 230 juco Aundre Jackson. Should be incredibly deep, and the trip to Spain will help determine if the big guys are going to change the focus (more man to man, higher scoring, 3 forwards) or remain primarily guard and zone focused.

We could start a point (Custer) and FOUR shooting guards, or a point and FOUR small forwards. We could play 6'4" Doyle as the point, Andres (6'8"), Chastain (6'6"), Kirby (6'9"), and Granic (6'8").

Thoughts? There are soooo many possibilities.

Townes has to sit this year after transferring from Farleigh Dickinson. I think he will be a stud when he gets on the court.

I think we have a lot of promising newcomers. I am particularly anxious to see how our three star recruits, Chastain, Satterwhite and Andries, perform. Also curious to see how Skokna's game translates.

My main concern is that we are thin at point guard, and might be in trouble if Custer goes down with an injury.

I agree, swella. I am looking forward to seeing this team practice in August.

The three guys likely to get the most minutes are probably Doyle, Ingram, and Custer. I would like seeing Richardson plus a big with that group, but as JCT notes, there are a lot of different directions you could go.

I've been wrong about the lineup more often than not, but I will be truly shocked if Chastain starts. I think he'll have to fight for 15-18 minutes per game.

By the end of November, I think we will have learned a lot about where the coaches think Kirby is in his development. If Andres comes in and starts over him right away, I'd take that as a bad sign.

I also am getting very excited about the season...
...talked with old roommates over the weekend about the season
...received that email about renewing season tickets
...talk here about recruits and Europe trip

But still have what..4 months to go?!?!

Any thoughts when we'll see a schedule released. I thought I had heard some teams were starting to release theirs.

I just have a feeling this team will perform like the 14-15 squad.

My starting 5:
Custer, Doyle, Ingram, Jackson, Andres

Porter compared Jackson to CT in his recruitment announcement, and at 6'5 230 he could still be a load down low while also stretching the D some with a midrange game.

I'd expect heavy minutes/some spot starts from Ben Richardson and Vlatko Grancic who could be a surprise scorer off the bench if his 3 pt shot is as good as it was in JUCO (57 makes). Richardson may also take 3's at a higher rate now that turks gone, which is fine with me as he shot 44% from 3 last year.

Then we have our freshmen Chastain, Skokna, and Satterwhite... the length of those 3 alone bodes so well for our defense in the future. I'm really curious to see where their games are at coming in, we'll need to rely heavily on at least one of them with all the inexperience we have at guard.

Kirby can act as a rebounder/space eater may be able to eat up a solid 5-7 minutes when foul trouble hits; he showed he was able to mix it up against Wichita last year. Plus when we get Tyson Smith back we'll have an additional guard with experience and defensive prowess. He definitely is the closest thing the team has to a "microwave" if healthy. When he's hot he's money.

And can you imagine if Milt's healthy and playing like we know he can?? ...4 months til the season starts...

In the MVC interview Coach mentioned Granik, the center from Croatia, a lot. He liked his ability to hit the 3 off the high pick and roll which has been kind of a bread and butter part of our offense. Coach also mentioned that they were close to finalizing the schedule

I would not be surprised if Richardson is starting. Last year, he was playing D on the toughest guard a lot of the time. Porter has also mentioned multiple times about how he can be a big leader. He also hustles and plays with a high basketball IQ which Porter really likes. Finally, Richardson and Custer are best friends and have a history of playing together. With an offense that runs on chemistry and knowing what the other players are doing, having Richardson on the floor when Custer is running the offense could be huge.

My guess for the starters are Custer, Doyle, Richardson, Ingram, Granic

Top 3 off the bench are Andres, Chastain, and Satterwhite

These 8 give plenty of flexibility with height and speed. They also let you spread the floor on offense with the big guys having good range.

Then, Skokna, Kirby, and Jackson each getting a few minutes each game.

Nice replies Gang !! I am now prepping for our season. Now then our team appears lacking in experience only--We are bigger and have depth. This comes as some of our League Pals are waning !! BTW, I like is for 4th maybe third in Conf. What do you gays think about our competition ?? WSU ILL ST am maybe who else are better ???
