Porter's Twitter page reports that the team had its first practice yesterday in preparation for the trip to Spain.

I'm pumped!

The season is too long. Kids should be home for the summer. I know this is not the current state of d1 athletics but it should be.

Yeah but it is all a big business and Loyola has not yet learned how to compete in this new world. We have great people in place with Porter and Steve and now a new women's coach to redirect that program. (I believe her brother is a pitcher on the LA Angels and came up with the Twins).
That said, it is necessary for the players to get that early start.

Nice seeing you at the game tonight at Wrigley Ramblermanager.

My wife and I had to leave the game early because we both became sick. It wasn't the food.It was the sight of your son in that Met's jersey.
I can tolerate your White Sox cap but how are you raising your kid?

Whoa. That's pretty extreme. You pay a couple hundred bucks in tickets, parking, and concessions to go heckle your crosstown nemesis? Maybe we could get some business that way from DePaul fans.

I'm guessing most D1 basketball players these days haven't spent a summer at home since they were 9 or 10.

Well sad as it is, College Hoops appears to be now about the $$$$----The U is now awakening to this as are the players. We are in a fine League. It will be sending multiple teams to the Dance and the rest--That is where the money is. Now if we can win as we have lately plus put fans in the seats, it will be great days for all.
I am enthused AGAIN .

BTW today's students --if they are serious-- are working this summer at various jobs---EG Grandson Alex is an intern for Nationwide Ins. It is located in Columbus--He lives in a suburb of Akron---Will be a Senior at U of MIAMI OH==I just site this as an example--Our Hoopsters in a way are doing the same--

Hence , with respect I do think differently then does Mgr on this

I can tell you right now that there has never, EVER been a time in my life where I would have said "No" to spending a couple of weeks of my summer playing sports while touring Europe.

Is there really anyone who honestly thinks this is a negative in any conceivable way?

It is a good thing JCT. My comment relates to the entire culture of college athletics. Basketball season should not be year round because by definition the word "season" is a time frame during the year. The actual regular season is even too long. It should start Sat. after Thanksgiving.

Total side note; but looks like Tyson's on the court doing some form of practice. Good to see! Tough kid.
