...and JCT's head explodes.

Yes, it's true. The evil double byes are gone, and the new format is identical to ours, with play-in games for the bottom four teams.

With this news, and the current Cigarboy controversy (see the Off Topic subforum, you'll be glad you did) it's like 2008 all over again!

If I had more time, I'd dig up the picture of JCT scolding LeCrone

Here you go:

Here's an interesting discussion on the Wright State board about the format change.

http://wrightstate.proboards.com/thread ... mat-change

Basically, it's now the same as the MVC, except it's in Detroit. Some fans are (justifyably, maybe?) angry that it gives Oakland and Detroit a benefit. At least it's at a neutral site. If they're going to have it anywhere, it might as well be the market where they have two teams--- at least to start. In the future, they could have the tournament in a truly neutral small city like Fort Wayne, Toledo, Grand Rapids, etc., in the center of their conference footprint, where they could "take over" the town.

Yes, this is what I was advocating all along. And when they talk about "making Butler happy," I believe that was part of it, yes. But the timing of the change to the crazy two-bye, home court system had much more in common with Loyola getting to the final in its implementation, and Loyola leaving the conference in abandonment of the format. It's just the facts of the evidence-- it was more a "Screw Loyola even if it hurts everyone else" format than a "Reward Butler because they're awesome" format.
