First off, good for Bennie. It's a Power 5 job and his alma mater. Happy he moves up in the world.

Who we replace him with will speak volumes about whether or not Porter can improve on his shortcomings and find that big man coach. It also will help that Bennie was probably at a higher salary than any other assistant coach, so hopefully we have the capability to offer a salary that's only attractive to a young coach right out of school (no offense to Joe or London). If it's another young former point guard who won't bring a different perspective, that CBI championship might be the program's ceiling under Moser.

I know it is greedy to ask for more than signing 2 full sized centers, BUT I have to totally agree with Brot, ahunte1, & lusuperfan, that we desperately need to also add a coach with real experience as a center or a full sized power forward, if our coach wants to finish above .500 in conference play for the 1st time in his last 10 head coaching years.

Not only to develop our 2 new big men (Krutwig & Shanks), but also to transition Jackson to the power forward position.

It is also especially important for next year as at least 3 of our 4 biggest active players (center Shanks, power forward Jackson [who is played at center], & small forward Ingram [who is played at power forward]) will be leaving at the end of this season.

We badly need to recruit big players & have an experienced big man coach here to aid in their development, along with developing redshirt Aher Uguak (who has a lot to learn in the rebounding & FG shooting areas at the Division 1 level) .

While I hope for a coach that can help the post players, I started to try and find assistant coaches in the NCAA that were big men when playing. From my quick search, there weren't many, especially in the mid-major ranks. Most coaches who I assumed worked with the big men, coached at the high school level at some point. Maybe since big men don't take a leadership role like a guard typically does, they just don't want to coach or don't make good coaches.

Although it's a really long shot since I believe he's playing in Europe, I think Seth Tuttle could be a really good coach. He was skilled, but also ran that offense, and understood everything. You would also see him coaching up the players when on the court.

I also wouldn't be disappointed with a guy like Seltzer who has some good head coaching experience to help out Moser.

That's not exactly what I meant by my post. We've struggled to develop a true center, but we also (until Krutwig) not recruited real high level guys at that position. I think Porter does a good job overall being creative with post players. Didn't Thomas, James, and Jackson all win some type of league recognition? That's a pretty strong track record.
