WE unfortunately are in a Conference which in men's Hoops are LOSERS and always has been--The writers attached to these lumps are woeful !! What gall !!

Only Byrd's Indy St team came even close to doing what we did. The rest ?? Even Butler and WSU did notand .probably never will do what we did. Maybe but probably not.
It is coming to light now what these really are --LOSERS !! LUC with their new found height may soon rule the roost in the wrong conference. One thing for sure is , we are on the way to the top of this conglomeration of NOTHINGS
Our Admin almost ruined us but that may be over now. Again I say--WHAT GALL !!
Fans in the seats ?? Moser has now cured a BIG problem--Folks may just come out to SEE us and not these never" wases " Lord knows the coming competition will help little.
Shortly will shall be ruling a corpse !! My opinion and I stick with it !

We didn't replace Creighton. We replaced a team already in the MVC that should have moved up to replace Creighton. But no one has really done that. And now we're looking to replace Wichita State, as well. Declining attendance at college basketball is a nationwide trend, probably in part because it's now much more commonly available on television. Think about how big a deal it was to have a game on television in 2001.....

ISUr has had four years to get up to the place where they could almost replace Creighton, but they're not nearly there. And they'll be much worse next year than they were last year. The ISU folks love to dismiss Loyola, but it seems like every game against us they just barely manage to beat the crappy undeserving team from the Chicago ghetto by 1 or 2 points in a nail-biter.

UNI has also had a chance to step forward and permanently reside in the top two, but they've seemed to have coasted on their success and reputation a bit too much, especially last year. Even if you're winning games in the NCAA Tournament, you still have to have to restock the players who graduate with guys that can play.

Indiana State is much, much worse now than they were when we came in-- in fact, I think they've gotten worse every year since we've been a member.

Drake has been worse than Loyola every year but our first in the league, and that year it was by only two games.

You can put SIU, Missouri State, and Evansville in the same classification--- they've each finished well above AND below us in the standings from year to year. But they were already in the MVC for many years before we arrived--- why aren't they out-performing us more substantially and more consistently? It's as if they decided to sit in place and not move a muscle when we arrived in the conference, expecting us to make all the effort and expense to replace Creighton immediately while they sit on the sidelines smoking a cigarette and making critiques. These are the teams I especially want to beat, because they don't even live up to their misplaced sense of superiority.

As for our team, we were pretty bad our first year, a little worse than I expected. We were pretty good the second year, but Doyle got injured. We haven't been great, but we haven't been a disaster. If we win the league this year and average 2500-2700 in the stands, maybe they'll shut up finally.

Great post JCT. I think winning the Valley for Loyola is a lot easier than averaging 2500 fans will be. Sadly there are not many alums from the last 30 yes that care to attend multiple games. Unlike DePaul our fans will not come out as easily if we start winning bc we don't have many fans. We need to make fans which may take years of winning and reaching the NCAA Toury.

I think part of the complaint goes like this......we lose Creighton and bring in Loyola because they are in Chicago...we will get more publicity for the Conference......Loyola gets no publicity in Chicago!!!!! The online Catch n Shoot probably provides the best coverage of LU......We will probably not get the publicity till we win and draw fans and or schedule big non-cons.....plus it is all a little chicken and egg..Only solution? Schedule big...win big.....without the crowd and publicity.

Amen to that. I'd rather take the guarantee game and lose to Wisconsin by 10 than beat Rockhurst by 45. The former gives us an advantage with more revenue, more publicity, better competition that gives us a more realistic benchmark for where we are as a team, better competition to get better against. I'd even venture to say it helps in recruiting too.

Just win the league this year and shut these clowns up. I'm tired of the local yokels blaming the failures of the league on us.

PROTIP: It's not our fault.

Amen to this as well. If these reporters knew what was going on rather than what they see in their rose colored glasses, they'd probably have moved on up in the world from the sprawling metropoli of the MVC.
