At a 15 seed... wow. He doesn't think much of the conference next year. He has Wichita State in as a 3 seed (along with fellow AAC teams Cincinnatti as a 4 and SMU as a 5-- so he presumably thinks Wichita State wins the AAC?), and Oakland representing the HL as a 14. I'd like to think the winner of the MVC at least gets a 13.... yeeesh. |

I think he has Wichita as the Valley champion. The table below the bracket has MVC as a 2-bid conference. Same on April 10 when ISUr was in the bracket instead of Loyola. On the other hand, a 15 seed never goes to non-conference champion. |

I'm pretty sure he has Loyola in as the Valley champ, and Wichita in as part of the American, but the conference bid count is automatically done, and since Wichita is technically part of the Valley until July, it shows the Valley with 2 bids instead of 1. If they update the conferences in July, I wouldn't be surprised if the counts change. |

The only way a team would get in to the NCAA tournament as a 15 would be to win the conference tournament-- and probably with no marquee wins and an RPI outside the top 100. His analysis would not presume that a conference winner loses the league tournament. |

That is unfortunately very accurate of our past few years and how the selection committee judges mid-major teams. Hopefully PM understands this could be an significant jumping point year for the program if we can make the tournament and get a winnable game (I think the MVC winner should easily be able to land in the infamous 5/12 game rather than a 2/15 game) and doesn't throw our last 3 open dates away on 250+ RPI/non D1 teams. Quite frankly PM probably thinks he's too smart by half and continues to schedule soft, but hope springs eternal. |
