As far as Young's 6-4 , 200 lb, Lucas Williamson’s value to the team, he certainly has strengths that will help the team.
His experience in the top 4A Class in the state, in the toughest league in the state, & leading the best team in the state to a state championship in his senior year, should not be overlooked, in addition to his making first team All State. His great defense against tough opponents is a great asset.
Another huge point is his 3 point shooting. Except for our 4 returning (& possibly all graduating after next season) starters (Custer, Richards, Ingram, & Jackson [his 24 mpg belie his so-called 6th man status]) who all shot over 40% from 3 point range, none of our other returnees, nor newcomers have a 3 point shooting reputation.
I don’t have his final shooting stats, but I know Williams started the season shooting over 40% from 3 point range & he ended the season by hitting 5 out of 6 shots from 3 in the Championship game against Simeon.
I think he should be one of the 10 Ramblers that the coach should start out the season platooning.
I was definitely pleased to see Christian Negron listed on the roster at an inch taller & 10 pounds heavier than before. We will definitely need him & new recruits next year to replace our departing big men (Jackson, Ingram, & Shanks) for the 2018-19 season. Let’s hope Christian will quickly be getting into playing shape after last season’s injury & layoff.
