Ald Joe Moore is hosting a community meeting to discuss the new practice facility. Plans and renderings are at:

I thought this was on the shelf. Going ahead with it now is is a great thing for the program and a tremendous vote of confidence by the administration. It should help keep the recruiting momentum going.

I wonder what the plans are for Centennial Forum? The rehab/replacement of CF was supposed to be the final phase of the Reimagine Project, but it never got off the ground and CF has just been been sitting empty for a long time now.
It sits in such a visible location that something should be done, and soon. I'd like to see it and Campion razed and replaced by architecturally-interesting buildings. We need more classroom space. To replace the lost Campion dorm rooms we would have to buy/build dorm capacity in the south campus district.

Good to see they are keeping most of the track/open space there.

Side question: Anyone know what is being built on the other side of Sheridan? I’m just assuming Loyola owns all or most of the land around it now. Could be mistaken, but it’s what I’ve heard.

Are you talking south of Sheridan/Devon along Winthrop and Kenmore, or west of Sheridan/el tracks along Loyala Ave and Albion?

West side of Sheridan, across from the bookstore

A Target store is currently under construction on Sheridan across from the Granada Center on west side of Sheridan. Loyola might own the land but not sure.
You probably know this already but a Hampton Inn opened a while ago on southwest corner of Sheridan and Albion. Around the corner on Albion a couple apartment buildings were built on Loyola land. The only Loyola facility I can recall west of the el tracks is a parking lot on Loyola Ave.

I think the TIF District rules Loyola benefits from requires Loyola to get properties back on the tax rolls, which means selling or leasing land Loyola owns to private entities not exempt from property taxes.

That makes sense. Man that neighborhood has changed a lot since I was in school.

This would be an amazing addition to the program. Is it true we're only program in MVC without a facility dedicated specifically for basketball?
