This is Cam's first player of the week award. Well deserved, and it won't be the last.

Also from the release:

Quote:
The Ramblers have now won three of their last four games versus SEC foes.

The loss was a one-point OT loss at Mississippi State in 2013.

Quote:
Since the start of the 2013-14 campaign, Loyola is 32-3 (.914) at Gentile Arena in non-conference action.

Guess what? I'm able to get to less than half the games, but I was at all three of the non-con losses since -- Northern Illinois in 2013, Tulane in 2014, Cleveland State in 2015. I was afraid I was going to jinx it again when Wright State closed the gap on opening night this year, but I guess that shows that this is a different Ramblers team.

This was from Seth Davis's Hoop Thoughts column yesterday:

Quote:
We used to think of a “zone buster” as someone who can make outside shots. Now, thanks to Jim Boeheim, today’s zones are designed to stretch out and lock down on 3s. So the real zone buster is a big player who can find space in the middle, be strong with the ball once he catches it and either score or make smart passes as the zone collapses.

It feels like we have been better against zones this year, and I think Krutwig is a big reason why. Pretty handy to have a guy who is 6'9 and can catch it and make plays from the free throw line.

CAMU! CAMU!

I agree with Seth Davis in theory, and think good things usually happen when Cam has the ball.

But to be honest I don't really remember much zone being played against us, except for a trapping full court zone press.

Well, why do you think that is?! :)

I used the same logic when selling my patented "Alien Invader Repellant In A Can" product to skeptical customers. I gave them a free trial can to use, after which I'd ask "Well, you didn't have any pesky Alien Invasions nearby, did you?"
This pitch worked particularly well in Red States.

Boise State uses a ferocious 2-3 zone. We broke it a few times with a double post, but Cam looked very tentative, and their guards took a lot of swipes at the ball whenever a post player brought the ball down below the letters.
