I’m sure most of you have already read this today, and normally I wouldn’t care about what he says...but this year feels like it could be such a pivotal time to be able to grab a share of local attention, even if just a small share for a brief period, that this really irked me:

You know what’s a big contributor to that lack of connection, Dan? Local media jerking off to DePaul and Northwestern, while pretending we don’t exist.

Perhaps if enough of us express our displeasure, Dan will start changing his tune.

Of course it's pie in the sky, but these stations are number drivers and if we can show that we care, they may have to listen.

I'd call his radio show to complain, but that would be counterproductive because I would probably run afoul of the seven second delay.

That said, someone should remind him that Duke beat Florida on a neutral court by 3 and we beat Florida at Florida by 6.

Boo!

That's a pretty lousy column. Basically boils down to because we're not in a P5 conference, we're not worth watching no matter how good or appealing the team might be.

This is one of the things that is worst about Chicago. You couldn't get away with that kind of BS anywhere else. If George Washington, St. Joe's, LaSalle, or Fordham were playing like us in the A-10, you can bet the DC, Philly, and NYC media would have picked it up and run with it. If Northestern, Holy Cross, or Harvard was 16-4 with a win over Florida and on the verge of breaking a 33-year tournament drought, Boston sports media would LOVE it.

Gonzaga was in the national championship game last year, and our numbers are almost as good as theirs this year-- we beat Florida and they didn't. They lost to San Diego State this year and we beat SDSU last year. We both have 4 losses on the year, and if it hadn't been for Custer's injury, we might have a better RPI and W/L record than the defending national runner up.

But in Chicago, this is what you get. The legacy of the Tribune bias toward the Big 10, the fallout of the university not doing enough to keep pace with other schools, and at least 15 years (more like 20) circling the drain under the mismanagement and stacked deck in the Horizon League.

One way to stuff this back in Bernstein's face is by winning Arch Madness. The Score is owned by CBS, and they're going to be televising the Arch Madness final. Maybe the CBS TV ratings for Loyola getting to the tournament for the first time in 33 years might change his mind about connecting in Chicago.
