They look at the head to head record first. If the tie is between more than 2 teams they look at the record against all the teams tied like a mini round robin. If a tie exists after that, they rank based off the RPI.

Good point... we'd be tied 14-4 with SIU but if we sweep them we'd get the tie breaker. And even if we split with with SIU wouldn't we still win the 2nd tie breaker b/c we'd have a better RPI?
