That is really too bad. I think Student Affairs sponsored it the first time around. Maybe they aren't getting involved again. We had some good student crowds there.

As a first timer to the ArchMadness...I hope this isn't a mistake, but I've decided to go with an AirBNB. I got all 3 nights for the price of one night at the Westin. I'm disappointed to NOT be staying at the team hotel. For those of you who have experienced AM a couple of times, do you believe this will greatly take away from the experience?

FYI: Please check the Westin St. Louis AAA rates (automobile association) - $99/night as of today.

I think part of the problem with the student trip is the academic calendar. The first 2 years Arch Madness fell on the Thursday and Friday of Spring Break, so they had a good amount of students. Then Spring Break got moved to the week after Arch Madness, and students couldn't go since they couldn't miss class or a midterm. 2 years ago I had a midterm on Thursday. I took the test, and got in a car 5 minutes later to go down to St Louis. I skipped my last 4 classes of the week to go. If I had a test in any of those, I might've not been able to make it. My guess is dropping attendance and actually having classes caused an issue with a sponsored trip.

For the hotel/AirBnB, the coolest thing about the team hotel is the pregame festivities. In the past they've had an app/schedule that let people know when the team would leave for Scottrade. Fans meet in the lobby, the cheerleaders cheer, the band plays, and Porter typically says a couple words. If you know the time the team is leaving and can make it, go to the hotel lobby, wear your Rambler gear, and then head over to Scottrade. I doubt anyone will question you if you wear Loyola stuff. That's what my brother and I plan to do. We're staying in a different hotel that he was able to get with points he built up by travelling for work.

Right, you don't have to stay at the team hotel to be there for the send off. We should try to post the time for that on the board.

Also worth hanging in the hotel bar for the postgame as well.

I don't think I can make it to the Friday game because of the (probable) early start time and a work obligation, but I'm doing all I can to make it for Saturday and Sunday.

Is anyone taking Amtrak?

I plan on being there Saturday, but like others have said the noon time on Friday doesn’t mesh well with the work schedule. I’m debating whether to take the train down. For me it’s quicker and cheaper to drive from Springfield...but who knows what the weather will be the first weekend in March.
