League play is like a cross country race,,,everyone jockeys for position...and with a third of the way to go everyone knows what everyone needs to know.....maybe the stragglers start to shut it down..but those runners that can see the leader are starting their final push strategy. For us everyone has seen us enough now to know what strategy they want to use...they have seen their team enough to know what their best line up is (seems ISU has made some changes.) Plus on the road crowds will be bigger cuz we are #1 and everyone wants to beat #1. My point is as well as we are playing we are going to need to continue to play our best. Lets hope we do not hit the well....especially our freshman.
My main concern is that opposing teams are going to try and take the ball out of Custers hands....I think there are going to be games where Jackson, Skonka and Satterwhite are going to have to come through.
I can see that being the case, it will be interesting to see how they respond to some different looks in the second half of the season. That being said, I think they have been through their toughest stretch. Second half of season includes a 5-4 home/road split and the games at Mo. St and Drake are already behind them. It all lines up pretty well if they can keep the intensity and keep getting better. Also, for the first time in ever no one is getting killed playing 35+ minutes a game so the worries about fading down the stretch should be alleviated some. I think the announcers said on Sunday that Loyola had no players in the Top 10 of minutes in the league. That is good news!
