Ok I'll admit it ... one of my guilty pleasures is enjoying DePaul's dismal existence, especially in light of our success! So every now and then I visit their board and today was surprised to see Porter Moser as a new topic. One of them suggested Porter as a replacement for Leitao. Hopefully we can keep him around as I think he has done a great job recruiting and good job coaching in game.

I have to admit it is a little guilty pleasure watching DP suffer. I guess it is the fact that they have always tried to stay above us ...wont play us,,,and along with Marquette, St. Louis, and Creighton have considered themselves above the Ramblers. I still think the long term key to success is trying to build a strong Chicago presence with all the other teams in the area....but it seems like everyone wants to be top dog. So might as well be LU LU LU

I've seen other whispers off people saying Moser to DePaul, but I really doubt it. Being in the Big East is nice, and a new arena is definitely nice. But it would be another complete rebuild, and I'm sure LUC can match any contract DePaul offers.

Why would Porter want to go to DePaul? Perhaps they could offer more money. Yes there is more exposure and better competition, but he'd have to start all over. I doubt he wants to have to completely rebuild a program again. DePaul is a disaster (and I love every minute of it)

Not me. DePaul was paying Oliver Purnell $2.2 million per year. Our entire men's basketball budget is around $3.1 million.

I agree that Loyola could not match the money, but Loyola does have one thing good going for it – – and that’s that he basically can be the mayor of Rogers Park if he keeps winning in the valley. This guys enthusiasm is amazing. I think he’s a smart guy too. He has figured out how to recruit guys to be successful where he is in the league he’s in. If you look at DePaul, its a nightmare to recruit to stay competitive in their conference. He just spent seven years building our team into a contender and if I’m doing the math right he’s 108-109 at Loyola, meaning he’s optimistically one week away from finally having an overall winning record here. If he thinks back to everything It has taken to get him here, if I were him I’d have some serious reservations about walking away from it now and starting over at a program that is in worse shape than what he had when he started here, given the league DePaul is in. That, combined with DePauls expectation of “win or we will Fire you,” makes the extra money not seem quite as enticing as the security he has in Rogers Park. Porter is relatively young, and three years at $2 million a year and a firing at the end of it doesn’t seem that attractive when you want to keep coaching as a head coach for a long time. If Marshall left and he was offered the WSU job I would totally get it... but that DePaul job is high long-term risk vs. reward.

Stop with the Porter rumors !! You guys are forgetting at least to things---

--REIMAGINE !!--Porter came --Gentile came-- LUC knows what the real world is--LUC is NOT going to allow PM to go without a battle IF it comes to that/

--LOYALTY !!!!! Porter it seems has that --He has and is building a winner--MONEY IS NOT EVERYTHING !!! And DEPEWL is NOT good enough for him !!

HE STAYS !!

i agree with brot.. I more see porter using this season as leverage for a long term contract. He has great recruits coming in, 4 kids in school, and success after many years of no success.

The thing that really worries me is losing Mullins. His connections through his dad are vital. We need to make sure that he is paid very well.

Its super funny that the DePewl board posters dont think Porter can recruit 4 star players, given that next 4 star Franklin Agunanne is coming to campus.
