I am sure that Clayton Custer would be the team MVP and one can also make a case for Donte Ingram.
But a hidden key to success has been Krutwig.
He has given us that inside scoring and offensive presence that we have lacked as well as his passing ability and defensive rebounding starting the fast break.
He has also allowed Jackson to play reduced minutes and to remain fresher and to not have to worry about playing down low.
It has been a real joy to watch King Krut develop this year and he has surely made a big difference.

No doubt! Freshman of the year, hands down. Our second winner of that award in 5 years.

There's no way that this team would be where they are right now if King Krut was playing somewhere else.

Streak, was talking to my mom last night about LU basketball and she asked if you and Linda are still courtside every game. Asked me to tell you hello. Hope to catch up next weekend in StL!

Watching on TV, I saw streak in the audience at the Evansville game.

I wasn't sure a couple weeks ago, but now I think Krutwig wins Freshman of the Year. If you compare his conference only numbers (last 17 games) to Tywhon Pickford it becomes clear:

Krutwig: 12.3 points (17th), 6.5 rebounds (6th), FG% .601 (2nd), FT% .754 (10th), Off. Rebounds 2.4 (6th)
Pickford: Not in top 20 points, 7.2 rebounds (4th), FG% not in top 10, FT% .778 (6th), Def. Rebounds 5.5 (2nd), Min. Played 30.1 (20th)

You know I think this is one where King Krut is going to take it on the chin,,,,,they cant give every award to a LU guy.....so maybe this is the one we dont get.......Jackson gets 6th man again ?

Drove down on Sunday morning and with 3pm start had plenty of time. Almost made the mistake of taking too long for lunch as EVANSVILLE is on central time and INDIANA STATE 111 miles straight north on route 41 is on eastern time.
Had lunch right across from the arena at a place called Backstage. Good food. Crowd was friendly and asked about the Harry Potter scarfs.
Funny! Parked for $5 literally across the street from Arena. Had great seats right behind bench.
Drove back to Chicago Burbs same day right after game. Had dinner in Terre Haute.
Total mileage was around 660.
Trip was possible because weather was good. Previously had to turn back on trip to ISU because of fog and trip to Terre Haute against Indiana State because of snow.
Taylor had 27 points for Evansville and was their only real threat.

I believe I saw somewhere that Jackson is ineligible for the 6th Man award because he's started too many games. I think to be eligible you can't start more than 10% of the entire season. Otherwise, I think he would've had a great chance of winning it.

No contest Pickford v. Krutwig. Starting with team records LU 14-3 UNI 6-11. Krutwig is far ahead in Scoring, Assists, FG%, FTs drawn, & Blocks. On a per minute basis, rebounding is close with Krutwig a fraction ahead. While Krutwig took no 3 pt shots, Pickford shouldn't have, shooting only 24.1%.

Sorry about the spacing, what I pasted is not formatted like what you see. Check MVC stats http://www.mvc.org/mbb/stats/confstat.htm for better formatting.
