I read where this young man had surgery at MAYO after a collapse !! Prayers for him to recover completely !!! |

Shocker Nation appreciates your prayers. Hearing about DJ collapsing was scary for everyone. Marshall lost a recruit his first year, on his first recruiting trip with us, of a similar situation. Collapsed during a pickup game that he was watching in New Hampshire and died. Reports are that DJ actually died on the court at Charles Koch Arena but head athletic trainer Todd Fagen saved his life with an AED. After a number of tests being run both in Wichita and the Mayo Clinic, he was implanted with an internal defibrillator. Expectations are for DJ to redshirt this year while medical personnel look over and evaluate where he's at and then he and his family will decide how to move forward. Either way, he will be allowed to get his degree through WSU with scholarship money if he plays or not. I believe DJ is back in Wichita now and we'll see how things move going forward. From a basketball standpoint, the same thing happened to a Utah State player last year and he's expected to start for the Aggies this season. So we're hopeful that DJ can come back from this and play the sport he loves so much with no future problems. |
