For ever the chant has been L-U, L-U slow and methodical ......now we are hearing LUC at a rapid pace.....Is there room for two chants?

I only like th use of LUC when we're playing one of the 3 letter schools (SIU, ISU, UNI). Otherwise, it's LU.

I noticed that the LUC chant really started to pick up in volleyball first, and has since trickled into the basketball world. It made sense for volleyball since Lindenwood and Lewis are both "LU" and we play them 4-6 times a year. I prefer LU, but understand that occasionally you need an LUC chant.

It's nice to know I am not alone. A number of us sitting in our area discussed the LUC v LU chant. I much prefer LU for "The Loyola University."

Glad to read this thread. I remarked during Sunday's game that I don't care for the L-U-C chant.
My vote is for L-U, and an example of how it should/could sound may be borrowed from the Sooners.
Go back and listen to the 4th quarter of the recent Rose Bowl, and how the Sooners crowd carried O-U.

At least when they thought they were going to win that game.

I'm not sure how it sounded at the end of OT.

It also works better for interaction between the students and other fans on opposite sides of the arena. Call and response starting with the students L ... other side U.

But the best cheer is Donald Ingram's Loyola! Loyola! Loyola! Loyola! Aye! Aye! Aye! Aye!
