Judging by non-conference differences between wins & losses, per team, going into the tournament, the nation’s top 10 conferences were: Conf ...w-l/teams ...average B12 ... 84/10 ...8.4 BE ...80/10 ...8.0 ACC ..112/15 ...7.5 B10 ...91/14 ...6.5 SEC ...91/14 ...6.5 P10 ...59/12 ...4.9 AAC ...58/12 ...4.8 MVC ...38/10... 3.8 MWC ...36/11 ...3.3 WCC ...17/10 ...1.7 That puts the Missouri Valley Conference at 8th. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/conferences/mvc/ |

If the selection committee is all true istic & above board, & if they don't give all 28 top seeds to the top 7 conferences, that should put LU (8th conference winner) & Gonzaga (10th conference winner) as at least 7th seeds. |

Of the 40 teams picked ahead of LU all but 3 were from the top 7 conferences (averaging over 5 picks from each of those conferences). The 3 others picked in the top 40 were 7th seeds Rhode Island 25-6, 1st in Atlantic 10 (13th conference), lost their tournament & Nevada 27-7, 1st in Mountain West (9th conference), lost their tournament. Gonzaga 30-4, which had a better record than we did, was a 4th seed, 1st in the WCC (10th conference) & tournament winner. Now we have to embarrass the selection committee. |
