Certainly things can and do change from year to year, but here were the RPIs of these teams:

Loyola Chicago - 14
Towson - 154
Pepperdine - 313
Incarnate Word - 348
Georgia Southern - 143
Florida Atlantic - 269
Miami (OH) - 170
North Dakota State - 214

I wasn't expecting much with the MTE. A lot of the good tournaments start booking teams 2-3 years in advance so even after the final four run a lot of those had their teams. I hope that in 2 years it looks better, but for now I'm not at all shocked that we're stuck in a tournament with a bunch of mid-majors.

Loyola pretty much has to dominate this tournament for it to even be slightly impressive. Losing at all would be a big disappointment to start the season.

I like MGR's suggestion--I nice three game trip to LMU Pepperdine and say maybe SFO or St Mary's --with returnby them in following year !!

I’d rather not do Bahamas and just schedule a tough 3 game roadtrip in Cali (SMC, USC, UCLA) or Texas (UH, UT, TCU) or something of the sort.

Not sure there’s a T2 win in that tournament, let alone T1.

All of those teams would be play-in teams in the Valley. Winning it won't do much of anything for us (similar to winning the Savannah Invitational this year), but losing would really hurt us.

Flip side of the coin is that its a nice experience for the players and looks good recruiting being able to say "we went to the Bahamas!"

BUT !! and I do mean BUT !! What if LUC is still wrangling over PM extension ??? PRES ROONEY MUST step in !! So much time is being wasted--So much good will is being wasted--So much recruiting time is being wasted !! THAT of course is what the narcissistic delayers are wanting !!

Decent tourney which we should win and then go from there !! BUT atop that we must add some better teams at home and away !! BUT how can we if we do not know if PM will be the coach !!

I SAY again !! BORING !! and SHAMEFUL !!

Tournaments are decided over a year in advance. This is about par for the course based on our 16-17 season, much like how Savannah was a reflection of our 15-16 results.

Taken from the MVC board regarding this MTE:

Quote:
Bradley played in it this past season. It was not a very good experience. We lost to Vermont by 1 and then won our two consolation games. The competition level was fair for us given where we thought we would be competitively at the start of the year. That being said, the tournament was very poorly run. The referees were terrible. The games were not televised other than needing to buy a subscription to the sponsor of the tournament or something weird like that. Games didn't start on time. It was just not very good.

This is a low-major budget operation and every single team from the Valley can and should do better.

Really hope we can get some good non-conference games lined up (besides Nevada). Or else we will be looking at another must-win Arch Madness scenario.
