A well deserved promotion for Bryan Mullins. Hopefully it is accompanied by a nice raise.

Really good look for the program to keep him, although I wouldn't have begrudged him for leaving for probably the same position at a P5 school for probably more money and the opportunity to get into another coaching tree.

I wonder if this puts him in the drivers seat to replace Porter though. It'd be logical and in a sense safe to transition the job to him and keep him away from SIU. However, he only has 5 years of coaching experience, all under the same coach at the same program. It could easily become a situation not unlike Porter at ISU or Lowery at SIU: young, inexperienced coach who's just not ready yet ends in failure.

Speaking of Porter's tenure at ISU, the AD who fired him there was just fired at Kansas.

Good for Mullins==Great for Moser and LUC !!! Like Porter, Mullins put Loyalty first and foremost !! LUC most likely sweetened his PACKAGE NICE !! LUC is really acting BIG TIME !! We are on our way !!

PLUS the resr of our ATHLETICS are moving up as well--Mens VB is lrading the way !!

Just curious.... Was this position/title created for him? Is he taking someone elses position? Does this mean that another coach is leaving or got demoted?

No coach is leaving or getting demoted as a result of this move. Basically you get 3 assistants, a Director of Basketball Operations, and a Grad Assistant. We had Mullins, Valentine, and Gordon as the assistants, Mamon as the DOBO, and London as the Grad Assistant. Some coaches will make 1 assistant an Associate Head Coach which means they'll share some responsibilities of a Head Coach and are the top assistant. Moser had this role while at SLU.

I think Daniyal Robinson was the last Associate Head Coach under Moser, but it might've Bennie Seltzer, so basically Mullins gets a promotion for a job that was open, but doesn't have to be filled if that makes sense. So to answer your first question it was more or less created for him.

Smart move. It wouldn't bother me if Mullins was primed to take over if/when Porter ultimately leaves.

--He has a LOYAL helper in Mullins
--For now he has another nucleus in Will, Krut and Townes with a horde of TEAM players in Skogna et al !!
--He has an upgraded sched non con and Valley !!
