They project our starting lineup to be Osborne, Thomas, Crisman, Turk, Keke. And they expect us to finish 9th (Rankings: 1. Wichita State | 2. Indiana State | 3. Northern Iowa | 4. Bradley | 5. Missouri State | 6. Illinois State | 7. Southern Illinois | 8. Evansville | 9. Loyola (IL) | 10. Drake) |

There's a lot of "Blah, blah, blah...Moser can lead the Ramblers into the Valley because he's been there." "The team has all this talent. Blah, blah, blah." This writer is extremely sloppy. No mention of Doyle. Picks ISUr for 6th and never updated his rankings to reflect McIntosh being a non-qualifier (in fact, he says to look out for McIntosh this year!) It's a joke. |

I thought with a new conference they might actually care enough to get it right, but evidently not. |

Loyola or LU. Until recently (2008 to be exact), we were the oldest Loyola University in the country and so we justified referring to ourselves as LU (even though there are several other Loyolas out there) Further, we had been traditionally referred to as Loyola (or LU) while the others were called "Loyola Maryland" "Loyola New Orleans" "Loyola Marymount." That said, the Loyolas must have gotten together and agreed that no one school would be referred to as just "Loyola." Accordingly, we would be Loyola Chicago...not Loyola Illinois. |

What happened in 2008? The university reincorporated as Loyola University Chicago well before that. Back when two wire services (AP, UPI) dominated, one referred to us as Loyola (Ill.) and the other as Chicago Loyola in polls and scores. I think Loyola of Chicago was used most frequently in narratives. I followed the Ramblers from out of state for many years and I don't recall seeing them referred to as just Loyola nationally. While we are on the topic, I want to support an annual MTE with the 3 DI Loyolas plus a Jesuit guest. The site would rotate. What fun it would be to see announcers trying to deal with it. Failing that, how about a Big Four event every year with LUC, DePaul, UIC, and Northwestern or Chicago State. |

Well, Scream !! You just are plainly NOT old enough---In 1947 when Jack Kerris was sinking hook shots with either hand. we were just Loyola--We were that for many many years. Putting it in HOOPS terms, we were dubbed Loyola Illinois when Loyola Marymount jumped up big time--at least around that time--Remember Hank Gaithers ??? Anyway we know who we are and hopefully the LUC brand will make a good impression with our new buddies in the MVC. |
