All indications are that Williams will sign with Temple tomorrow, which is apparently his mom's birthday.

Edit: This just occurred to me: Jeremiah Williams reminds me a little of Mark Macon, a tall guard who was a star back in the day at Temple and played for several years in the League. Same build, high energy player.
He apparently is a current assistant at Temple.
I wonder if any of this was brought up in Williams' recruitment?

Jeremiah Williams to Temple.
Otis Frazier III to George Mason.
Gedi to Georgia Southern.
Courvoisier to Depaul.

Off topic, but another Loyola-St.Laurence HS connection, a la Jeremiah Williams: Byron Burt, a recent Rambler walk-on, was just named the next Laurence head basketball coach.

Rough day for the Ramblers on the recruiting trail. At this point, we should either find a grad transfer at any position with a Carson Shanks type of attitude (aka a practice only player who's OK with that role from the beginning) or just give the scholarship to Hutson. A transfer could be super helpful, but are we even talking to an available one right now? There's not really any point to getting a transfer just to fill out the 13th scholarship if he's not going to be a productive player in the Valley when he's eligible.

It might be a sign of desperation that our assistants just followed on Twitter two prospects who don't appear to comport with Porter's "Culture" standards.
Taj Anderson, judging by whom he follows on Twitter, seems addicted to porn (https://mobile.twitter.com/TajAnderson2), while Vante Hendrix is a much-travelled transfer who received five technical last year, took his shirt off during a nationally televised game and was sent home by his coach for unspecified misconduct before their final game.

I get the no stone unturned approach, but it's starting to get to the point where I really don't see a productive and realistic end goal in this.

The depth chart next season is super crowded already with a coach who has a notoriously short leash, quick hook, and a habit of not playing anyone past the second guy off the bench. There are times when it works, times when it doesn't, but it's certainly the cold reality of the situation.

Although it would have been tough for either of them to see the court next season, Williams and Frazier looked like they would have been great pieces in the future from my armchair analysis. To have them in the pipeline for 2021-22 would have been more than ideal.

There's no problem keeping the scholarship open, especially if a kid hits the transfer market later or mid-season. But I don't get scraping the bottom of the barrel just to fill out the roster with a guy who is unlikely to break into the starting lineup and very likely to cause problems. It sends a tough message to Hutson too that he's such a low priority that we'll look anywhere for an "upgrade". You could very well end up losing two guys in the process of this.

This is speculation of the worst sort, but I wonder if we are recruiting out of fear that Cooper Kaifes may not have recovered from his hip surgery by next season.
Is it just me, or did it seem to anybody else that Cooper still had a little hitch in his giddyup when he was walking the sidelines?

At this point, I would agree that Hutson should get a scholarship. I would have liked to have gotten somebody and fit into our program, but I agree with everyone else that we don’t wanna just get somebody for the sake of getting someone. Especially, since I don’t want to see another situation where we have a player that probably is talented enough but doesn’t fit into our program because of what we already have (satterwhite, pipkins, Bujoso).

If Kaifes still hasn't recovered to play next season, then he's probably going to get a medical hardship waiver, which opens 2 scholarships up and makes it even harder to not give one to Hutson.

As for who would take Kaifes' minutes, it would probably be Hebb or Wojcik, maybe even Kennedy and Norris if Clemons is on the court as a PG. If Cooper can't come back, it would leave a big hole in the depth chart, but it's not like there aren't good options in-house (as opposed to a uninspiring grad transfer or freshman) to fill that hole.

He did, but that's normal. It can take a year. Word is he's doing fine.
