In the 6 games Chris Negron played this year (1 exhibition & 5 non-conference games) his results are:

39 minutes
15 points (7-12 FGs)
17 rebounds
2 assists, 1 turnover
4 blocks
5 fouls (Much fewer per minute than Uguak or Agunanne)

I have a lot of hope with Negron, Uguak, and Agunanne, all of whom we can use when we play the big boys.

Using 3 of 10 scholarship players at center is bad math. Chris is power forward size & we have no backup there.

If Chris is healthy I would think developing his talent & experience will help the Ramblers. If he is stuck as only a 3rd string center . . .

Potential is definitely there. As someone else hinted at earlier tonight, I think his defense needs to get up to speed before he can be a reliable 3/4. He’s shown great ability to rebound and a pretty decent midrange shot in the past, so he could, should, definitely be a weapon as the year goes by and he gains more experience. But, There were a few plays tonight where he just looked out of sync on defense. Similar to Kaifes at guard.

While I'd love to see him continue to get more minutes don't play with a traditional power forward, we use a "wing"; Moser wants a 4 man who can guard multiple positions, handle the ball, and ideally shoot the 3 as well.

I love Negron's energy and ability to play above the rim, but he's also not someone you'd want shooting the 3, or bringing the ball up court. I'm also not sure he can guard 1-3 at this level. He can guard the 5 and some slower "traditional" 4's... but his game isn't there yet. Putting any combination of Negron, Krutwig, and Frank on the floor together limits spacing and clogs the paint. Negron missed time during the first official practices with injury (someone on the board posted it was a sprain?) and looked to re-roll it at the end of the UMKC game, so he may be limited in PT with that.

We're only 5 games into the season. His time will come, plus it's great to have an exciting third option in the paint.

Blers, where did the idea of playing 2 centers & a power forward at the same time (Krutwig, Agunanne, & Negron) come from? Is that your suggestion?

It is not surprising that power forward Negron at 6-7 225 lb might have a little problem being assigned to guard 6-10 265 lb center Grant Golden.

I do see that Negron may be needed to give Krutwig a break when Agunanne is in foul trouble (a situation which hopefully become less acute with the game time which the coach is giving Agunanne - which I think will greatly pay off as Agunanne developes).

Also the coach pulling Negron out when there is the injury factor is also the right thing to do.

Uguak has no back up currently, which may work against little teams, but when we get to the NCAAs & the last few games of the MVC tournament it may not work out.

On the positive side, our 4 returning starters are looking great & Uguak & the 2 freshmen guards have had some games where they played really well.

No no, i'm saying it's hard to play any combination of Negron, Krut, and Agunnane at the same time (Krut and Negron, Frank and Negron, Frank and Krut), as all of their skill sets are so similar.

We don’t have to wait that long until those issues may appear. Nevada and their copy-and-paste 6’7-6’10 lineup comes to Gentile in 7 days.
