After watching four MVC games and three A-10 games today....
I am finding myself struggling to understand the outpouring of three point hoisting in most games.
Plenty of time on the clock, doesn't matter, just hoist one.
Game circumstances suggest taking time off the clock, nope, just hoist it up.
Most amazing, clear path to the basket, nope, just hoist it up.
Five feet behind the line, no problem.
I assume this is starting back in HS. and so we should expect more of the same.
Thoughts????

UNI is now doing this, as opposed to all the years they played a Bo Ryan/Tony Bennett-like style.

The result is their worst team in 15-20 years, despite their best recruit in program history (coach’s kid).

Interestingly enough, both the MVC and A10 are having their worst years in forever, with the styles the leagues used to play MIA.

If we've learned anything from the Bears this year it's that going for three is dubious.

Looking at our team, I don't think we have the problem of just jacking up contested threes. I think we do a great job of moving the ball around, taking our time, and finding the open three off of a kickout. I have not been frustrated with the threes we've been taking. They've all been good shots -- unfortunately, in the first half of the season, they just weren't falling.

What were we last game? 12 of 24 from three? I'll take that.

In this data driven world.....you only need to make 33% of your shots to get the same benefit of 50% from two.....strategically you spread the defense out....but really agree that some teams keep chucking them up no matter the situation.....and yes I have stopped going to the local high school games because all they do is run to the 3 point line chuck up a 3, that bangs off the rim wildly, everyone chases after it and the process starts again.......kinda like youth soccer........even with this offense scores are way down ..

I think this trend started a few years ago as a result of the Golden State Warriors and the "Splash Brothers" of Clay Thompson and Steph Curry. When they started to win big by pulling up and taking long range 3s, everyone started to do it. I much prefer a team oriented actual offense like the Spurs, but it's probably hard to convince kids to run that kind of offense when all they see is MVPs and the best NBA teams and players coming down to hit 3s.
