With the last regular season games being played tomorrow, how about a look at MVC attendance?

Bradley 5429
Illinois State 5424
Evansville 5299
Missouri State 4954 +1
Southern Illinois 4463 +1
Indiana State 3977 +1
Northern Iowa 3666
Loyola Chicago 3634 +1
Drake 3322
Valparaiso 2838 +1

Loyola is currently 8th, but has a good chance to move up to 7th with a big crowd on Saturday. Obviously, with a seating capacity of 4486 and a fire-code SRO capacity of 4963, Loyola's not going to average in the top half of the league. But historically, if Loyola finishes around 3700 with a big crowd on Saturday, it will be one of the three best seasons in attendance in the past 40 years.

Here are the top 10 seasons for Loyola average home attendance since 1979:

1985 6186
1986 4270
1984 4024
1982 3773
1987 3301
1997 3222
1994 3042
1983 3002
2007 2850

Getting an average up in the 3900-4200 range would be great. What the Athletic Department has done with game-day experience this year has been B+ or A-, and only the concession lines have been a total negative. It's a massive improvement over last season, which was the best by far since the Gentile remodel.

Comments? Suggestions? Pet peeves? Kudos?

I think the key is not so much on the numbers but on the experience ,even though they are related. It has just been neat to have a larger, louder crowd...and really cool to have the increased student presence. And they have had some tough weather days as well. So all in all a great improvement.

An absolutely amazing improvement!!! From my college days in the late 90s going to games with guys like Big Joe and Classless, I couldn't imagine going to games with more than 2000 fans.... and now we're nearly averaging double that!?!?! It's been so much fun and with some luck, a lot of hard work, and continued commitment from the AD the continued success could be a reality for years to come!

Classless...Now there's a name from Ramblermania's Wild West past.
I used to like trying to decipher Classless' posts. It was both a challenge and a treat those rare times you actually figured out what he was trying to say.

I miss Classless. Nice guy and real fan.
