Once again, Loyola has one of best team FG% in the nation this year (49.7%, 8th in NCAA Division 1). Cameron Krutwig is tied for the nation’s 7th best at 64.1%. But their outside shooting has improved greatly in particular, as the year progressed for their young 10 scholarship team. 3 freshmen, 2 sophomores who had little playing time as freshmen (Negron & Uguak), 2 sophomores who played as freshman, a junior sub, 10th on my depth chart, & 2 seniors. In the 13 pre-conference games they shot 32.9% from 3pt land. In the 18 MVC conference games they shot 39.6% from 3pt land. In the 13 pre-conference games they shot 64.4% from the FT line. In the 18 MVC conference games they shot 68.9% from the FT line. With their improved outside shooting & the return of Lucas Williamson, things are looking up for the Ramblers in the tournaments. |

On further reflection, if LU shot as well for the year from 3pt range as they ended up in MVC play (39.6% from 3pt land) they would have ended up 10th in the NCAA for 3 point shooting. |

Interesting stuff.....do we explain it as it just took time for the newbies to get comfortable and the oldies a while to relax??? |
