I'm pretty much starting to make things up out of whole cloth on this thread, so I thought I'd try this rumor out for size:

Porter was in Minneapolis yesterday ostensibly to watch Custer compete in the 3 point contest. But could he have also met with U. Minn. officials regarding the head coach job?
Richard Pitino has been on the hot seat for some time (although the seat became a little cooler with the Gophers making the round of 32 this year). And Pitino's name has surfaced in connection with the Arkansas job.
Let's see how RamblerGuy's blood pressure responds to this. Should be fun.

Re: specific performance as an available remedy for Porter breaching his contract. Not only is it impractical as you point out but I don't think it would be legally permissible. Courts seldom if ever order specific performance to enforce an employment contract, and if, as is almost certain, there is a buyout clause in the contract, that would completely preclude specific performance, as a buyout is essentially an agreed amount of liquidated damages for breach of contract, and specific performance is predicated on the insufficiency of money damages to make a party whole. You couldn't argue money damages are an inadequate remedy when you negotiate a liquidated damages provision in the contract.

Thanks, Swella! I have tremendous respect for your legal knowledge. Yes, the concept of liquidated damages is usually a viable substitute for non performance.
I only brought up specific performance to demonstrate, although possible, it is as you mentioned ludicrous.
Hope to see you at the post season banquet Tuesday.

Not to get too lawyerly, but specific performance is not a viable remedy for an employment contract like a coach's contract. Something about the 13th amendment. Most ADs try to negotiate a large buyout which makes the leaving a little easier to swallow. It's somewhat ironic that coaches can leave, but students/athletes can't.

One thing that is certainly true: we have way too many lawyers on Ramblermania.

Good news for us. Musselman to Arkansas and Stackhouse to Vandy. To me, those were the most appealing jobs left. Not that I think he was looking to leave, but I don't see any job out there that would target Porter or he would be interested.

The important thing is not whether a story is true or false. It's whether you're first to report it. That's Introductory Internet Journalism 101.

Per Zagora tweet PM would be an "epic disaster". Well, we are glad to have that disaster at LUC. Lets have a season or two that proves every one wrong. Go Ramblers
