| Post subject: | Undefeated, Agunanne & Uguak |
Practice games are over. We start MVC play undefeated. We were also undefeated in the 4 games where our 5 starting juniors: Krutwig, Hall, Uguak, Williamson, & Clemens, were healthy plus our backup center, Agunanne, was also healthy. It would have been nice to have our starting (& only) point guard Keith Clemens healthy to get more practice with the other starters, & the same for Frank Agunanne but I am glad we have them both ready for MVC play. On the positive side, our 3 freshmen & Junior JC transfer Pipkins got a lot of playing time that they would not have had if Clemens, Kaifes, & Agunanne were not sidelined with injuries. Although with Agunanne out, Welch played more minutes at backup center than his more natural power forward position. I realize it has been a shock for the midget fans to see 2 forwards & a center starting, rather than 4 guards & a center, but I have been really impressed with the 5 juniors playing together. In the Davidson game, I was upset that after Uguak scored the first 4 points in impressive fashion & Clemens made a steal giving us the ball & a 4-2 lead, then both of them were yanked & 2 shooting guards were brought in. I realize it is non-conference practice, & I won’t argue with the coach giving playing time to newcomers. I also thought, when Krutwig went down, Agunanne looked good disrupting Davidson & getting 4 rebounds & 4 points in 5 minutes. I was just sorry that due to Frank’s injury that Agunanne didn’t get a lot more playing time, to learn & to give Krutwig some rest. I think that Uguak, like Williamson, is a great defensive asset to the team, plus his help with rebounding & assists. We are lucky to have him.
