Schadenfreude is one of my favorite emotions.

Lenti- Ponsetto must have compromising photos of Depaul's president and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. There's no other plausible explanation for her long and disastrous tenure as AD.

At some point I'd have to be like screw it, release the photos, you're fired.

During chaos, it is good to know there are certain immutable institutions that withstand time. Why they wouldn't go after Belien is beyond me?

They should have went after Porter.... in 2018.... There is a chance that he may have been interested in it then.. I don't know how anybody would be interested in that job now. Their AD either has no idea what she is doing, or she's doing exactly what she's supposed to be doing -- turning a profit with absolutely no desire to be competitive and win basketball games in their conference. Either way, that is a crap job now.

I have no idea how you would get a decent coach there, when they would have to know that 1) the AD is either an idiot who is not going to help with putting the team in position to win, or 2) they might be getting hired by an AD who is on their way out and they could end up having to work with someone worse.

If you signed to play there -- Do you have any confidence that things are going to get better?

If you're being recruited there -- Do you have any confidence?

It's amazing how quickly a few years can make... I have absolutely no jealousy in regards to DePaul... They are in a great conference, but the outlook for the future is so grim, the conference affiliation gets severely outweighed by their program management.

I'll take 3 years of finishing in the top 3 in the Valley over 3 years of getting pounded in the Big East...

I actually feel BAD for their fans... The ones that are left.

Yeah no way Porter leaves us to work for JLP or that Beilein would want that job while she's around. If they get a new AD, then who knows, although apparently Beilein is prioritizing a win now job than the rebuild DePaul will be.

Actually there are two jobs that I think could get Porter to leave Loyola but for different reasons:
1. The Bulls, the money would be way too much to pass up along with the ability to have a less frantic pace with a much higher profile. The question is though could Porter tolerate the super star ego's and shenigans that go on and would he be able to live at a less hectic pace. I'm sure that Brad Stevens of the Celtics would be able to tell him about it as a reference point of comparison.
2. DePaul. Porter basically had to operate without an AD for a year after Grace left. Heck he has a solid reputation as a turn around specialist and Ponsetto would be more than happy to stand in the background.
Either job would allow him to stay in Chicago so there would be no relocation issues.

Heck if either opportunity were available he would be foolish not to make the leap. Depaul is in a better conference and if Dayton can do it and Xavier why not Depaul?
Also with Bob Parkinson's death, Dr. Rooney lost a key supporter of her and the athletic department lost a key advocate. So I am not sure that the direction of Loyola would support what Porter is looking for in the way of expanded support.

He would have to win us a national championship to land the Bulls job, so I guess that's not too much of a problem for us to have.

As for DePaul, I still think things would have to change dramatically in leadership for him to even consider the job. Porter would be giving up a ton of job security to be hired by a publically loathed, lame duck AD for a rebuilding job in a brutal conference that's sending 7 teams to the NCAA tournament with really restless fans who expect a winning record almost immediately. That's a recipe for disaster that would require an offer of north of $3 million a season for him to take. I think there's a reason why DePaul has basically been looked at by their previous coaches as a retirement package, and Porter's not near retirement anytime soon.

Heck, if we have a really great season next year and DePaul fires Leitao 12 months from now, I think he only picks up the phone to use DePaul as negotiating leverage for a better job.
