Per Joe Henricksen's Twitter account, Donte Ingram of Simeon committed!

He's a HS senior this year.

Awesome to see a new recruit from Chicago.

Background on Donte Ingram

Class Of 2014 Player Watch: Donte Ingram

During the summer Simeon Career Academy in Chicago added to its amazing basketball talent pool by adding several notable transfers. The most high-profile is 6'7 2013 power forward Russell Woods who came over from Leo. However, the one who may end up being the best college prospect when it is all said and done is 6'5 2014 wing Donte Ingram.

Ingram was the player of the day yesterday at Simeon's open gym, one which drew head coaches that included Tom Izzo of Michigan State, John Groce of Illinois, Howard Moore of Illinois-Chicago, Jim Christian of Ohio University and Tracy Dildy of Chicago State along with assistants from Illinois, Michigan State, Illinois State, Southern Illinois, Illinois-Chicago, Valparaiso, Colorado State and Chicago State.

Ingram transferred to Simeon from Danville High School in Danville, IL at the beginning of June. What he will provide Simeon head coach Robert Smith with above everything else is versatility. That is because he is capable of playing as many as three positions on the floor equally well. From that standpoint, Ingram is especially valuable at the defensive end, where he can defend the 1, 2 or the 3 spots.

Offensively, Ingram handles and passes well and is especially effective in the open court and on the break. He is also a smooth-shooting lefty with range that extends beyond the 3-point line. Needless to say, there is considerable up side. Therefore, while Simeon certainly had enormous depth prior to Ingram's arrival, he is a player that gives Smith an entirely new dimension.

Ingram's recruitment is just getting started as he is a player who has remained very much under the radar. However, we have a feeling that is rapidly going to begin to change, particularly once more college get an opportunity to see Simeon play during the regular season.

Blog post from Hoops Report: http://blogs.suntimes.com/hoopsreport/2 ... e_ing.html

Two things that jump out:

1. Apparently Ingram is DaJuan Gouard's brother.
2. Knuth's name is notably absent from the last sentence.

Well, another fine recruit--and out of the CPL !! Nice !

BUT it will mean zilch if we do not win with him and the others PM has recruited--

It is NOW rug cuttin' time--Friday--. Our losing to Lewis was and is a disgrace--It does no good at all to have our players hobbling around with injuries as well.

PM now has to prove himself--To me , all the good he has done--and it has been considerable went down the drain with the Lewis loss and the injuries-

A big win against the Panthers will change my attitude.

GO RAMBLERS !!

I think this is an excellent pickup for the Ramblers! Ingram appears to be very versatile player who can penetrate inside, shoot well from the perimeter and play defense! I'm also a fan of relatively tall shooting guards, so that's a bonus! At 6'5 (and the possibility that he may still get a bit taller), Ingram will be a great fit for the type of offense/defense scheme that PM is attempting to put together. The duo of Ingram and Doyle would could be very fun to watch! Most importantly, this may create a great pipeline for Loyola. I would love to see us going after more talent from a school that has "graduated" the likes of Derrick Rose and Jabari Parker.

If Ben Richardson is also as good a shooter as "they" say...Loyola could develop a very formidable offense.

Welcome to the family Mr. Ingram!

Go Ramblers!

Unless we dropped Knuth because of his marijuana arrest, Ingram's commitment puts us one over the scholarship limit for next year, assuming everyone else except Nixon returns.

This is a really nice pickup for the Ramblers. Talented wing, and a great young man. When I interviewed him last week I got the feeling that he was headed to Loyola. Very intelligent young man as well, congrats on the commitment.

My speculation is that Knuth will not be signing with us. Folks over at the MVC board speculate that he will go the CC route.
