I got curious about that as well. Based on the article below using 2018-2019 NCAA data, here is where we stack up. Pretty interesting article.

Loyola:
4.34 million
105th in D1

MVC:
Mean - 2.92 million
Median - 2.61 million
13th for conferences in both

A10:
Mean - 4.99 million
Median - 4.76 million
8th for conferences in both

Obviously this is a little outdated, but we would be just under middle of the pack for the A10. SLU and Dayton drag that average up, they are 72nd and 71st in budget hovering around 7.4 million.

I do think part of Porter’s agreement was in increased budget and I’m not sure if that increase had hit for this 2018-2019 data.

My other concern would be that everyones budgets have been turned upside down with covid....from what I understand all our coaches including Coach Moser took a covid cut

Just read an article about SIU not being interested in the Ohio Valley...we have been thinking we might poach a couple of their teams....had not thought about them maybe poaching a couple of ours.

There is no possibility of the OVC poaching an MVC team. The MVC is consistently 15 spots ahead in conference rankings. It is a lightyear’s difference.

I have no idea why a journalist would even need to include that in an article. Probably a non-sports person tasked with the assignment.

I wouldn't call it so much a "poaching"...more of a voluntary relegation. I would think ISUb would be the most likely candidate to "drop down" due, primarily, to budget concerns.
