Tuesday, December 22, 2020 12:00 p.m.
Gentile Arena, Chicago, Ill.

Loyola plays University of St. Francis on Tuesday at noon in a final tune up game before the start of conference play on Tuesday. The Ramblers have played the NAIA school out of Joliet once before, earning a 63-46 win on Dec. 28, 2009.

The Fighting Saints are 5-2 on the season with one exhibition game against a D-I team; last Monday, Central Michigan beat USF 91-39.

USF is coached by former Texas-Pan American Coach Ryan Marks. The Saints start 5'10" point guard Eric Ting, 6'5" center Lewis Holey, 6'4" forward Carter Fayhee, 6'1" guard Russell Tillery, and 6'3" guard/forward Joey Buggemi. Coming off the bench are 6'8" freshman forward Aitor Anabitarte, 6'0" guard Carlos Tovias, 6'7" sophomore forward EJ Charles, 6'7" forward/center Deandre Johnson, 6'5" forward Reihana Maxwell-Topia, and 6'3" guard Nadav Gerner.

Leading scorer Ting, a native of Taiwan, is the team's leading scorer at 12.7 ppg. He shoots well from distance (12 of 18 from behind the arc) and gets to the line often, shooting 82% from the stripe. Ting is one of five active USF players from overseas; Holley is from Australia, Anabitarte is from Spain, Maxwell-Topia is from New Zealand, and Gerner is from Israel. Buggemi is averages 12.1 ppg, and Deandre Johnson leads the team in rebounds (7.6 rpg) coming off the bench.

Loyola is currently ranked 55th in KenPom.com, but games against non-D1 teams are not counted in the stats used for his rankings.

I'm taking PTO to watch this game, so ESPN+ better be working this time!

Krut will have a fun time playing against a 6'5 center. Hopefully this provides even more incentive for Porter to give Hutson some minutes tomorrow.

The 6'5" center starts because he's a senior. They have a 6'8" freshman and a 6'7" power forward type who is a bit foul prone who play significant minutes from the bench.

Framed as "load management" so hopefully nothing to be concerned about. Good opportunity for other guys to get some PT. Looking forward to seeing Anderson, Hebb, Hutson.

Hopefully this doesn't lead to us having trouble with this team....

Hall clonks two FTs.

Hebb, Hutson, Wojcik all on the court. Ting is going to give us all kinds of problems. We might lose this game.

This team goes as far as Tate Hall takes us...we're going to get our 17 and 10 from Krutwig but if Tate can't be the reliable #2 option we're going to struggle through every Valley game. Don't love the 0-3 start from the line or that laughable airball on the 3-pointer.
