Apparently the Gov of Iowa....has removed all or most covid restrictions....could this mean a full Drake gym full of non-socially distanced fans...who have been hanging out at large Super Bowl parties and other nonsense.....if true.....one a great advantage for Drake and a potentially dangerous situation for the health of the Ramblers......at least those who did not have covid or whose anti bodies have not developed or lasted sufficiently...
Am I correct in thinking that the Valley left all this up to each school and the regulations of the state that they are in? and if Drake does choose to fill the gym does LU have any options.

I highly doubt you’ll see a non-socially distanced arena with fans intermingling with players.

I agree with the good Sister. While the Governor's decision seems ill-advised to me, I don't think it will have a major impact on attendance at our games at Drake.

The Bulldogs already allow fans at Knapp Center. Their last series had a little under 1000 fans in the 7200 seat stadium. The Governor's action, in my opinion, won't cause Drake to open the floodgates and allow a standing-room only crowd in. It might prompt them to loosen capacity restrictions somewhat while still allowing for social distancing. I can see them raising capacity to 25% (1800) if that is consistent with social distancing guidelines. I also think fans will still be required to mask up even in the absence of a government mandate.

Private institutions can still be expected to do the right thing most of the time even in the absence of government coercion, and universities are generally more progressive, well-informed and responsive to public opinion than most businesses.

I can't imagine Drake being willing to risk the health of their team and fans, or be accused of holding a potential superspreader event. It also would be horrible optics to have the game televised showing a packed stadium when viewers are used to watching games in empty or sparsely filled venues. The contrast with the Super Bowl would be stark.

just saying.....all your answers make complete sense about a decision that does not make sense.....so saying if......? ....particularly since we have already done so well with covid. and the new variant (already in Iowa) seems so less transmittable wait for it...NOT... I apologize for getting off topic..it is just that it seems everyone has tried so hard to have a season..for their and our sakes you would hate to see a decision by someone who does not seem bright enough to get a fork to her (him) mouth to got against IDHA advice for god only knows what reason.....I will be interested to see what Drake does......big game on ESPN...might be hard not to move to 3 dimensional fanshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrQw2TKXq6o

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF SOMEONE IN AUTHORITY TO BE STUPID. HAPPENS ALL THE TIME!
INSTEAD OF SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, IT WILL BE SLAUGHTER OF THE LAMBS. NO WONDER THIS IS ALL GOING NO WHERE.

Attendance for the Drake game at home with UNI Wednesday was 971, unchanged from their last series with Illinois State. Everybody was wearing a mask.
So Drake made no obvious adjustments based on the Governor's action.
I expect the same with our series.
