Donte Ingram (Chicago, Simeon) and Ben Richardson (Overland Park, KS) signed letters of intent today.

The obvious question now is whether Jay Knuth will follow suit and sign his LOI with Loyola.

His Twitter page still says that he is a Loyola commit, and he has tweets from Cody Johnson and Nick Osborne. That implies he's still coming.

On the other hand, he didn't sign yesterday along with Ingram and Richardson. Loyola issued a press release about these signings, which included quotes from Moser. The Tribune said today that NCAA rules allow only one "press conference" to announce a recruiting class. For that reason, Illinois held off announcing its two signings until Friday, in hopes that Cliff Alexander will commit to the Illini then.

The question is whether Loyola's press release omitting Knuth is evidence that he's not coming, because it effectively closes the book on 2014 recruiting.

Two other factors come into play. One is Knuth's recent marijuana arrest, and the other is that Loyola would be oversigned for next year if they ink Knuth. A spot could open if Tanner Williams' chronic knee problems end his career, but that is speculation. These factors also suggest Knuth might not sign.
All in all, I'm unsure if Knuth is still coming or not, but if I had to guess I'd say probably not.

I agree. Maybe Knuth is grounded from Twitter and hasn't been able to change his bio.

Again, this is pure speculation on my part, but maybe Moser is waiting for time to clarify Tanner Williams' medical situation, and Knuth could still sign in the spring if Tanner can no longer compete and a roster spot becomes open.

No offense to Knuth (who looked good in the videos I've seen), but if we have a scholly to give in the spring, I think we should use it on a big, not a small forward.

We'll need a big, especially if Tanner can't play. Hopefully he can.

Man it seems like we need a big. I think it will hurt us this year but how about next? Those of you who have seen some action this year....What do you think are the long term prognosis for Johnson and KIng?

If King leaves Loyola a year early, I figure he and Johnson will go 1, 2 in the 2016 NBA draft.

Seriously, I try to make it a point not to evaluate or criticize players. First, I'm not really qualified to do so, and second, these guys are NOT pros.

Mid-majors like Loyola are not in a position to recruit big guys who have a developed game. There's not many out there to begin with, and those that are college-ready sign with Duke, Kansas, etc.

I hope King and Johnson continue to develop and improve their game. What their ceiling is is for somebody else to speculate about .
