Did the school ever report the direct and indirect impacts of the Final Four run?

Obviously, there was the direct financial windfall from the NCAA to the athletic department due to the long run. However, schools usually see a pretty significant increase in applications, whose fees can be banked by admissions. The increase applications result in academically stronger classes which, in turn, raise the school's national rankings.

I don't remember seeing anything from the school other than the general reports in the newspapers about the amount a school receives for participating in each round.

Two of my nieces dropped their other school that they had decided upon and switched to Loyola. They mentioned the excitement of the Final Four run.

Applications were up by nearly 10% and enrollment was up 5% 2018-2019.

Here is nice article written back in 2019. The article mentions in 2019 LU accepted its largest class in the 148 year history of the LU. it also talks about attendance rising and donations rising. The Final Four run definitely had a positive financial impact on the school.

Here are two articles talking about how much money the run generated for the MVC from the NCAA:

I wonder how many of the schools in the MVC that thought Loyola was not worthy of the MVC and voted against us, refused to take the money?

Here are a few more useful links. If you're feeling ambitious you can compare Loyola's official annual financial statements for the years 2002-2020 and draw your own conclusions regarding the impact of our Final Four run.

Also included is a scholarly article discussing the financial impact in general of successful college athletic programs.

The other links are specific to Loyola and date to 2018.

Well, these sports programs really do help financially, but they also create a sense of community within the University and keeps graduates "connected" to their schools which many times manifests itself in pride, donations, merchandising, etc. The best thing LU did was to get into the MVC and to spend the time, effort and $s to help the program becomes successful.

Thanks for the links Swella.

And Mudville is spot on about the benefits. Unfortunately in the early 80s when everything changed because of ESPN, Loyola lacked leadership and vision and the alums paid the price and Loyola harvested indifference.
