IF WHAT CBS SPORTS REPORTED AS TRUE, Loyola offered ten years at $2.2 million per year with
escalation and Cubs tix to the 1914 club (worth $100,000 per year).

Is there a link to the ESPN interview with PM having the Oklahoma gear on? (One solace at least it was not Depaul red, white and blue)

Steve and LU stepped up. They did all they could. Here’s an article from 2019 outlining some of the mid-major coaches salaries. When this article was written, Mark Few was making under 2 million base.

It is not a knee jerk reaction.

Steve Watson seems like a good AD. I would imagine he had a list of replacement candidates in his desk (or on his phone). The list was vetted with the administrators and boosters, maybe, even Porter. I wonder if his father will be part of the staff.

Steve Watson, Valentine, and the University give me plenty of hope as a Rambler fan. I’m very impressed with Loyola’s offer to Moser. It displays that the school is willing to spend what’s necessary to make this program big time.

Heard that the $ was a fair amount lower than the 10 and $22m reported. It scaled from the low $1s with escalators each year of service, culminating at 2.2 in year 10. Hefty buyout clause as well.
In essence, he would’ve been paid a lot of money had he stayed all 10 years, but it wasn’t $2.2m a year for 10yrs guaranteed.

There's good precedent for promoting from within. Mark Few and Dan Monson were both Gonzaga assistants and Dan Fitzgerald, who raised them from obscurity, was a recent assistant there when hired. Closer to home, since Pete Gillen came to Xavier from Notre Dame, four of their next five coaches were promoted from within: Skip Prosser, Sean Miller, Chris Mack, and Travis Steele. Moser paid his assistants well and it looks like it would pay off to continue that. I'm all in with Coach V.

Terrific article on Mark Few. This could have been Porter. Will it be Drew following Porter like Few did with Monson?

We may have gotten lucky here with timing. Dan Fife (assistant) is leaving Izzo’s staff for IU. People online saying Valentine might have been the replacement if Loyola hadn’t pegged him as the next HC

It is odd that Loyola hasn’t made the official announcement yet, wonder when that will be

Looking like hopefully tonight. Maybe they wait for the morning to not drop it in the middle of the National Championship game discourse.

And looks like tomorrow it is.
