Ball handling & live by the 3, die by the 3. In their 4 losses, Loyola’s assist to turnover ratio was 49 assists, 54 turnovers 0.9 A/TO 12 assists /game In their 16 wins, Loyola’s assist to turnover ratio was 262 assists, 178 turnovers 1.5 A/TO 16.4 assists/game In their 4 losses, Loyola made 29% of their 3 point shots (29/100) 25 3 point shots per game In their 16 wins, Loyola made 40% of their 3 point shots (148/372) 23 3 point shots per game LU lost to 4 good teams. LU has a new coach, 4 new players & one returned from injuries & one that didn't. We have to concentrate on finishing first in the MVC & with the top seed that comes with it, & then win the MVC tournament & not worry about the rest, until we do that. Go Ramblers! |

The Ramblers need to value possessions more and decrease the careless turnovers. |

At this exact point in time our Adjusted Offensive Efficiency is 110.8 good for 50th in the country. National average is 102.5. Last year was 111.3, which was 41st with a national average of 102.2. Much bigger change on the defensive side though. Last year was 87.0 good for #2 overall vs 94.8 this year, which is still quite solid at 45th in the country. In conference games only our offensive efficiency is is 106.2, 4th in the conference vs 110.7 and second in the conference last year. |

A few thoughts on last year vs. this year. 1. I think the MVC has drifted toward a faster pace and more offense this year than last. 2. Forget that Drake was picked to finish first. I think we're everyone's top target this year, for a number of reasons: we've been on top for a while, we've had an AP ranking two years in a row, we're leaving the conference at the end of the season, and we were never really looked upon fondly while in this conference. The minute we announced we were leaving, the knives were out. 3. A lot of the decline in our defense is because we've got Hutty and Knight down low. Maybe combined they have close to Krut's skill set, but each of them has gaps. Doubling players in the post more often to cover defensively is letting the opposition get better shots. 4. I think our guards are either actually fouling more this year, or getting called more this year. As a team, last year we committed 14.32 fouls per game, this year it's 16.15. Some of it leads to free throws, sure, but it seems like more of them are offensive and become turnovers. 5. I still think defense and controlling tempo are the best ways to win in this league, even with more emphasis on offense and (maybe?) tighter calls on defense this year. Can't remember Aher and Williamson getting as many hand check/ticky tack calls last year. Maybe the emphasis on not fouling in practice has been de-emphasized. But that's the world we live in, at least for the next two months. |

With the game being on Sunday, we should get some better refs. Will be interesting to see how the game is called. |
