The daughter of the GM who created the Bad Boy Detroit Pistons of the 1980s had an article about her relationship with her father in the latest New Yorker. I read it and was rapt from the very beginning. Amazing details about the Pistons. Mentions LaRue Martin. The author attended A-10 rival St. Joes. Really fantastic, very deep and personal article that is insightful about parental sports relationships with kids. A highly recommended read. Reminds me of how great literature and journalism enriches our understanding of the world and helps us reflect on ourselves and others......too bad we have become a nation of non-readers.....although good news...a new Barnes and Nobles opening in Chicago. |
