Here is our conference preview, it's not real kind to the ramblers but I think they will get better as the year progresses.

Well, It is obvious that these guys would rather have had some oth
er team than us in the Valley--BELMONT ?? To paraphrase these guys, " Who the @#@&% is Belmont ??"
They truly do not like us or Porter--OK, I shall use the old bromide--I can put down my people but guys from the Ozarks or anywhere else had better not--Now then, we will probably start off behind the eight ball by going up against my long shot fave Indy St followed by those Bears--After those two , we may--I say, may start the upswing
Ramblers cannot go on blowing nice leads--I do not believe that will happen much anymore-- Doyle Keke Thomas and our bigs--lots of fouls to give--alonf with Turk will turn some heads--

If Porter can get his act together--his second half that is--we will be just fine.

It is all on him now--

GOOD LUCK RAMBLERS !!!

I really wish PM and the team listened to that podcast. As a fan, it's tough to hear. As a player or as a coach, I would take it personally. They explicitly call Moser the worst coach in the valley.

Not going to attend to change your opinion. Still think Moser is the worst coach in the league. Credit the ramblers on cooking up some crow.

I'm not big on trash talk. Given what we've endured as a fanbase (what there is of it) over the past 2 1/2 decades, we've got little to back us up when we do it. My attitude is to use reason and facts, and be gracious in both victory and defeat. That's how we held our own on the message board with a gloating Butler fandom for more than a decade, and I think it would suit us well in the MVC-- especially given our less than stellar start. Let the scoreboard do the bragging, and just try in a respectful tone to educate the others.

Reason and facts??

This is not Wikifreakin'pedia, this is "Ramblermania, a fan site for the Loyola Ramblers". The raison d'etre of a fan message board is to support the team, facts and reason to the contrary notwithstanding. You can support the team with your "facts" and "reason". I support the team with sarcasm and insult comedy.
Let me use a smokeyjoe metaphor. Ramblermania is like chili. Facts and reason are the meat and beans of the chili. Sarcasm and insults are the spices. You need both to make a good chili.

And your facile attempt to rewrite Ramblermania history by claiming (ironically, without citing any evidence) that we responded with "reason and facts" to Butler posters crowing about their Bulldawgs; that's not exactly the way I remember it. I don't think anybody would call Ramblin On reasonable. And if I was reasonable, it was by mistake, or on a bad day. I'd like to hear if NILDOGG thought we were reasonable and fact-based.

Sorry, but I think we need a counterbalance to the kinder and gentler post-MVC Ramblermania .

Swella--

Your remembrance of the Ramblermania board is from well after I was moderator. Big Joe had a much more laissez-faire moderation style and is himself inherently more confrontational when it comes to competition. My tenure was also from before we had a good run during the Blake Schilb days, when we had much less to brag about, and before Butler's two Final Four runs. So my strategic calculation was to be somewhat conciliatory on basketball performance itself, but stick up for Loyola's value to the conference with no quarter. I was also undoubtedly the most vociferous opponent of the Horizon League's perversely stratified conference tournament system, which I still firmly believe was the beginning of the undoing of that conference.

Yes, I let Ramblin' On do his thing, but if you think about it, his main focus was the free ride and favorable treatment that Butler got in the Horizon. He used factual inside information and rhetorical skill to tease out an unmasking of the piety of Butler fans and the vaunted "Butler Way." On my own, I tried to be conciliatory and moderate the conversation toward respectability and rational discussion-- except when it came to the HL tournament format, which drove me absolutely nuts. I can't cite examples, because they've long since cycled off the old board, but if you ask Brot, Streak, BigJoe, or LU 86, they might side toward my recollection.
