I learned from Brian Day at Loyola that Amtrak is offering a discount Archmadness weekend from the trip down there. Brian has the code to use when ordering a ticket. Now he did mention weekend discount. So if you go down early, like Thursday, I do not know if it applies. You can reach Brian at 773-508-3316. Never to early to start thinking about the tourney. I hope whatever the season brings that the fan base gets out and supports the event. |

Would Thursday really be early considering many project you to be playing that evening? I won't be in STL this year, but hope there's a decent Loyola presence. |

I think he was referring to it be early to use the weekend discount (i.e. Thursday may not be considered "weekend") |

Guess I kinda missed the weekend part and focused on the Arch Madness part. Does Friday count as weekend then? Because if you win on Thursday, there's a strong chance you'd be playing at noon on Friday and winning becomes really difficult at that point. I'm not sure the last time a Thursday team played on Saturday. |

I would encourage anyone to attend the tournament in St Louis. Have been the last 8 years and seen my share of frustration. The eating is the thing that can assuage the bitterness of those losses. I'm sure Chicago has some very fine Italian Restaurants and "The Hill" district in St Louis has some nice ones as well. If you like watching college basketball its great to watch other mo valley teams beat on each other and a whole lot less distressful since you don't have a vested interest in who wins or loses. The Union Station used to be a neat place to visit and hang out between games but has gone to seed over the last few years. Would like to meet up with Loyola fans and ask them if my "accent" is truly "country" according to a Chicago cabbie. If I meet up with any of you I will tell you the story of my trip into the city to see the Cubs and the subsequent interesting trip out. |
