The season's second Men's Volleyball weekly ranking poll is out, and Loyola is five points from the #1 ranking, behind Stanford. The Ramblers did not play last week, while previous #1 Long Beach State lost a match. Stanford (with 9 votes for #1) leapfrogged Loyola, moving from 4th to 1st, but Loyola earned five votes for #1. It's probably Loyola's 2nd highest attended sport off the top of my head behind men's basketball. I've been to many matches and several where attendance has exceeded 1000. It's not a major collegiate sport but to compare with other major men's volleyball schools, let's take a look at an article from Vinnie Lopes recently. http://www.offtheblockblog.com/2013/05/ ... ttendance/ From looking at Loyola attendance figures in the past, I'd say Loyola men's averages 400-500 per home match in any given year, give or take a few. Some big matches draw up to and over 1000, some draw just 100 or 200. If you look at those figures in the article link, Loyola is in the middle of the pack. |
