Listed at 5'11" but that may be generous.

For those few people who claimed that we would have won the Horizon League this year, Green Bay is 15-3 overall on the year. Their only three losses were at home by three points against #9 Wisconsin, against 14-2 Harvard at a neutral site, and on the road against Eastern Michigan (their only road loss on the year). They beat Virginia for a nice marquee win, and their RPI stands at 42.

Elsewhere in the HL, pesky Wright State is again near the top, and Youngstown State is now beating the likes of Detroit and Cleveland State. Give me Bradley, Indiana State, Illinois State, Drake, Wichita State, and Evansville as regular conference foes any day of the week over Detroit + The Summit League 2.0.

Our two wins against HL teams this year were at home by a combined 7 points against the cellar dweller and a team in the middle of the pack. If we had remained in the league and finished fourth or below, we'd be much worse off for the conference tournament even if we have to play on Thursday at Arch Madness. Even if we somehow finished 2nd in the HL behind Green Bay, we'd have to win a neutral site game in the conference tournament likely followed by a road game on the top seed's floor to make it to the NCAA tournament. And that is not even considering the other benefits of joining a much better run and more prestigious league-- recruits, scheduling, increased chance of postseason play, and the other elements of building a strong program long term.

5'11 with the fro, maybe. That's a David Bailey-esque generous measurement.

Yesterday, UIC was hoping to break their 9-game losing streak and get their first conference win on the season at Oakland. They had a 75-73 lead with 4.4 seconds left, when this happened....

Feel bad for Howard Moore... good guy.

Also yesterday, Butler lost by 17 points. At Hinkle. To St. John's. So they retain sole possession of last place in the Big East. They started the Big East season at 10-2 overall. Now they're 11-9, with their next three games at Seton Hall, at Marquette, and at Georgetown.

Oakland seems to have pretty good attendance for their men's bball games!

It's kinda funny that students would rush the court for beating the last place team in the league though...

I recall a handful of times where UIC did this to us...

Yep. Also recall their fans as being distinctly petty, obnoxious, and borderline delusional when they found out it was us and not them that got the MVC invite.

They were always fixated on us. Sometimes you felt like they'd gladly accept a 10-21 season if they could only sweep us. They never recognized or acknowledged the legitimate grievance we felt when they were added to our previously private school conference, to compete against us in the same market while having access to public school funding for infrastructure. Somewhat ironic that they lost in heartbreaking fashion to the team that was added to the HL after us, that screwed Detroit the same way they screwed us.

I think the game I'll never forget was in 2003 at the Joe. It was senior night. David Bailey hit Paul McMillian for a runner with 15 seconds to go. UIC called a timeout and the Joe was going nuts. It was so loud, you couldn't hear much of anything. Everyone was amped. Cedrick Banks found Aaron Carr just on the other side of half court where he just drained a 3 to win the game. Absolutely heart breaking, but that's not why I remember the game.

The second Carr made that shot, a bunch of UIC students ran over to the LU students section looking to start shit. Several of them were tossing up gang signs and being poor winners. I think a couple of UIC students tried to enter the group of LU students. Even after walking out of the Joe and towards what is now Santa Clara Hall (which is that last building along the lakeshore on Loyola Ave.), a bunch of UIC students were talking shit, throwing signs and being obnoxious. That's the type of crap that upsets me. If you win, be a good sport.
