Congrats on the win against UNI. Shows the SWOMO win was no fluke. For those not able to attend or watch on ESPN3, you can tap into Shockervision for about $5 for the game. http://www.shockervision.tv//liveEvents ... EM_ID=7500 For those of you making it down to Wichita, stay on the NE side, downtown, or Old Town. Easy access to Charles Koch Arena and decent areas (and inexpensive) Good luck the rest of the year excluding of course when you play the Shox. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=580k4HBEyEs Go Shockers! |

Shocker Country....thanks for the welcome......I have very found memories of the Wheat Shockers in black and gold playing at the old Armory at Bradley...my favorite game as a kid. But I am laying down the gauntlet. I think the Ramblers will play well on Tuesday. How do you see the pace of the game going? Do you see your Shockers as more an offensive or defensive team? Will your scoring come from the inside or the outside? |

We prefer to play more uptempo but aren't afraid to play a slower pace. We like to get out and run and use our speed and athleticism but have great faith in our half court game as well. Essentially, we push when we can but some teams focus on taking that away and we're more than capable of grinding away. But I am laying down the gauntlet. I think the Ramblers will play well on Tuesday. How do you see the pace of the game going? Do you see your Shockers as more an offensive or defensive team? Will your scoring come from the inside or the outside? This team is built off of defense first. It's what Marshall stresses and if your don't play D, you simply don't play. Last night one of our key reserves was benched in the 1st half because he watched a rebound rather than going and getting it. Boards are another huge focus for the program. I believe we're averaging a little over +8 per game this year. My best guess on you guys making a decent game out of this, and I'm not trying to be arrogant at all, is to have someone other than Doyle step up. Odds are that he will have the MVC's best defender on him and Cotton has done a great job ever since he got here of holding other teams top scorers down. It does appear that you have a couple of guys that may be able to do that, but it will most likely be needed come Tuesday. And even though we're a defense first team, we've had 5 or 6 different guys lead us in scoring and I believe that Early, VanVleet and Baker have all scored over 20 and Cotton has come close a couple of times. Those four are as good as you're going to see in the MVC in my opinion and put them up against the top 4 of any team in the country. I know I'm biased but they're very good. And three of the four will return next year and all four played bug parts in our Final Four run last season. The real question mark on this team has been which big guy will step up. Len Elmore called them the three headed dragon. Kadeem Coleby began the season as the starter and has become the 2nd big off the bench. Turf toe has slowed him but he just seems to be a little out of it. Still a presence on D though as I think he leads the team in blocks. Chadrack "CJ" Lufile has been starting lately. Like Coleby, he goes about 6'9" and around 260 I believe. Both are also pretty athletic. CJ has a lot of energy and plays well around the basket on both ends of the court. I need to check, but he and Coleby both are either tied for the blocks lead or 1 and 2. He can also step out and hit from 12-15 but doesn't do it a lot. Darius Carter has started a number of games but has been first big off the bench lately. He's a 6'7" 240lb big that is a tremendous athlete and still adjusting some from being a JUCO AA. He's far from his ceiling and has a 7' wing span. We never know which one will step up in any game, but Carter and Lufile have been a little more consistent lately. Both are very capable around the basket and can both step out to 15 or so. |

I looked at Shockernet and saw some of their predictions. Didn't see anything on WheatShockers, though. What is your board thinking? |

This is what's going to be a test for us--not just at Wichita but going forward--can we still find a way to win if Milton has an off day? Turk's popped off for thirty before and seems to be getting better and better, but for now he remains an outside specialist. We need more players who are able to create their own shots. As for Wichita specifically, MD's gonna have to find a way to be better than his defender if we are to have any shot of keeping it close--at this point we can't do it without him. Not against a team like Wichita. |

Sub !! Migawd Man !! You have every right to be arrogant--You are not --More power to you. I do not need to remind you that the Shockers have yet to lose even ONE game--I do not see you losing until the BIG ONE and then maybe not. Our guys will do well against you , however as Grant said about Lee--'He doe not have Army enough"--Same with us--We are good --better than most now in the MVC player for player --but are woefully short of "ARMY"--We play seven maybe eight---but mostly six. AND THAT now, I feel is our weakness going forward. |

GoRamblers wrote: I looked at Shockernet and saw some of their predictions. Didn't see anything on WheatShockers, though. What is your board thinking? WheatShockers is still trying to grow. It's been up less than a year but has a nice feel. Unfortunately, there are only a handful of us that post regularly. I would guess that that the sentiment is about the same. Although I haven't read ShockerNet since I left it over the summer. Most probably feel that it'll be a 20 point game. We don't run up the score so I'd be surprised by a 30+ even if your guys are way off your game. 3G has been using these large leads to help build depth. That means more time for 6'6" wing Nick Wiggins, 6'4 wing Evan Wessel (who still hasn't hit a 3 this year. Over 40% last season) and developing FR wing, 6'7" Derail Green. We only have 10 scholarship players available since we're redshirting 2 (6'8" 260 Shaq Morris and 6' 170 Ria'n Holland) and the heart condition of DJ Bowles who was supposed to be our backup PG this year. Derail Green hadn't been playing much prior to the last few weeks. The kid is a shooter though and it's exciting to see him get more time. And if we are up big and feel the lead is comfortable, we've shown that we'll put the walk-ons in with a lot of time left. 13 plus minutes against Bradley. Green may get in before it's comfortable, but the others won't. I am curious to see how your guys react to the crowd. Some feed off of the energy and others cave. There will be 10,506 making a lot of noise. I'm guessing it's not something that most are used to at this point. But many kids enjoy playing in Wichita because of it. If any of you make it down, you'll be treated well and enjoy the atmosphere, but not the game results. ![]() Think big. Play big. Sorry for the long winded posts. I can go on for days when talking about my school. |
