This is the stat I always look to first. Only 8 assists last night. SOme missed shots account for some of the low total but then we had 12 turnovers. WS seemed to do a good job of stripping the ball when we drove the middle. I think Milton Doyle is a little like Turk was last year. Turk got stripped a ton last year.He is better this year .
It just seems like we are a chilli recipe at this point just trying to get all the ingredients and amounts correct. To have so many young kids who are trying to learn the college game mentally and physically has got to be difficult. But as they say the only thing you can truly control is attitude and we seem to be fighters.

Two questions to Rambler fandom
1. It does not seem like we are recruiting any big guys from the class of 2015. Players coming in next year are guards and small forwards at best. What is the deal?
2.Is anybody taking a leadership role on the team?
GO RAMBLERS

1. They may have bigs they're recruiting that we don't know about. If not, I'd expect that to change in the spring. The lack of minutes played by the front court guys leads me to think Porter doesn't like how they're developing.

2. Crisman from what I've seen, which is possibly why he gets a lot of minutes without a ton of scoring. Plus he guards 3 positions - and in the UNI game he was on their 4 a fair bit.

On the Big Man front, I was encouraged to see Nick Osborne play a lot of hard minutes (34, six more than his previous career high) against a very big, smart, and well-schooled team in a hostile environment. Osborne had eight rebounds, seven points, two steals, a block and an assist; only one turnover and three personal fouls. If we could get more of that on a more consistent basis, augmented by development from O'Leary, Johnson and King, we might be OK in the frontcourt for the next couple of years.

As for recruiting, one of our signees for next year is Simeon's Donte Ingram. He's listed on Verbal Commits as a 6'5" guard, but I've recently seen him listed at 6'6" (don't know if he's grown since he first popped up on recruiting sites). He's tearing it up for a great program this year (playing alongside Illinois recruit DJ Williams), and getting a lot of comments about going under the radar and "deserving bigger offers." He's already had at least three double-doubles and point outputs of 27 and 25 in high profile games. He was named as the MVP in the Penny Hardaway Hoopfest in Memphis. If he really is 6'6", he's got the possibility of moving to small forward with some weight/strength gain.

I knew Ingram was originally from Danville, but didn't realize until I just looked up his profile that he's the brother of Dajuan Gouard.

Granted there may be others out there that they are recruiting. I am using Vebral Commits as my main source. I guess what I found interesting is that the bigs they are recruiting , a couple of 6"9 guys are Juccos meaning they would be Jrs along with Osbourne, Oleary and Johnson next year. Yet there is only one big ,Rafferty from Hindsdale Central is listed at 6'8, in the class of 2015.

Our other 2014 recruits are doing well as of late too.

Jay Knuth (I'm assuming he'll sign with us in the spring) was suspended for the first few games of the season for his marijuana arrest, but since he's been back in the lineup his Johnstown High team is undefeated and ranked in the top 10 in Iowa. He's also scoring at good clip (around 17-18 ppg. and climbing).

Ben Richardson's team is nationally ranked, losing only once to a Minn. team lead by a Duke recruit. Ben recently was voted MVP in a tourney over his more heralded running mate at guard.

I don't know that Jay will be here next year. His past doesn't fit with the "change of culture" thing that Porter has been pitching.
