Having played pretty darn good against Wichita, now comes the big test--Can we scrape ourselves together enough to beat a Bradley team that is not so good?

We have won in Peoria before and could do it again. If we are not too deflated, and we should not be, we will do just fine.

BTW I do feel a tad disgusted with the Shockers as they slammed us at the end when our bench was in the game--You do not do that --especially in our house when game was decided--A note for our future to remember book---If PM is what I think he is, he will remind these guys as we go down the road.
BTW their # 5 is a bit on the arrogant side as well--OK to be cocky but.....
But let's face it --the boys from the fields came to the big city and schooled us--We took theitr shots and lost to the better team--No blow-out this night.

A couple of comments about the slam at the end...I have not seen the team deliberately do something to embarrass the opposing team but I can't say what was going on on that particular play. If my recollection of the game is reasonable, I remember LU continuing to fight and shot the three ball very well in the last few minutes, if that was the bench then they should play earlier. #5 is Zach Bush and is a walk on who sees time on the floor only in that last gasps of a game so I don't know about that comment either.

Basically, what happened was this. We had been pressing in the final minutes. CT missed a 3 ball with 1 minute left. WSU got the ball to VanVleet who moved up the court. The LU players were just settling back as Porter just told them to back off. WSU was up 86-72 at that point and the game was over. Usually, this is where the team dribbles it out and then takes a shot deep in the shot clock. Instead, VanVleet tossed up an alley-oop.

The look on Porter's face said it all. He looked down at Marshall as if to say "what the hell?" Now, I know it wasn't Marshall's doing. It's all on the players. But that really got to me. You're one of the best teams in the country, up 14 points with 50 seconds to play and you do that? Sorry, but I don't like it at all.

I'm of two minds on this.

On the one hand, I thought it was kind of lame to throw an alley-oop dunk when the other team is clearly indicating the game is over and isn't guarding you at all.

But on the other hand, if you don't want it to happen, then play defense for 40 minutes.

Not something we typically do. My best guess is you guys had still been playing hard up to the previous miss. VanVleet got out in front and maybe hadn't realized that you'd raised the white flag. I don't think 3G was all that thrilled about it either and you don't have to worry about something like that happening again. I think it was a misreading of what the situation was at the time.

Did Porter Moser make a big deal about it like Gregg did back in '09? The profanities were amazing.

No. After a few moments, Porter moved on and then asked the refs for time to put in the end of the bench.

They alley oop came at :56. Over on the Wichita board, they were complaining that Dokubo stole the ball from Early at the :19 mark. If the game is indeed "over," why does WSU have the Preseason Player of the Year in with :19 left? The ball was stolen from him by a walk on. We're playing walk-ons, and they've still got their MVP in?

I found, much of what they said on that board, to be either deliciously ironic or pathetically moronic.

As mentioned in another thread, it's the usual internet tough guys. The WSU people I met yesterday were perfectly nice and knowledgeable. Apparently those character traits disappear for them once they sign into the message boards.

One typical comment I liked on their site was talking about how lame it is that Loyola has volleyball markings on the floor.

I guess only fans of teams that are actually ranked #1 in the country would know the reason for that.
