I was curious of the attendance of last night's game so when I saw that it was 4,577, I was pleased that we sold more tickets than the official capacity. I vaguely remember the new capacity being shy of 4,500 so I looked up the official capacity on the website. The current athletic facilities pdf. http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/loy ... lities.pdf shows the capacity at 4,963. Different sources show the initial renovated capacity of 4,486. So my question is when did the capacity go up and what did Loyola do to achieve that?

I wonder if they decided they could sell 500 standing room tickets? There didn't seem to be any empty seats last night.

The old Gentile configuration had a listed capacity of 5200. But the fire code allowed 5513, which was coincidentally the attendance at the Michigan State game. I think the listed capacity is actual seats, and the SRO capacity can be larger. I saw several dozen people standing in the open areas and handicapped seating areas above the top of the fixed seats.

Ah that does make sense. So 4,963 is probably the new fire code allowance. I did a little more digging. Last year's "Quick Facts" for men's basketball had the capacity at 4,486. The current year has 4,963. The 2014 Men's Volleyball and Women's Basketball "Quick Facts" still have 4,486 as the capacity.
