With WSU entering the NCAA Tournament with a 34-game winning streak, I decided to look up the top winning streaks in college basketball history, and found that Loyola has been a significant part of several of them. SCHOOL, YEARS, STREAK 1. UCLA (1971-74) 88 (Loyola was win #30, and - bizarrely - win #60 to tie the previous record, which was set against Loyola) 2. San Francisco (1955-57) 60 (Loyola was win #60 to set record... USF lost to Illinois 3 days later) 3. UCLA 1966-68 47 (Loyola was win #19) 4. UNLV 1990-91 45 5. Texas 1913-17 44 6. LIU Brooklyn 1935-37 43 6. Seton Hall 1939-41 43 8. UCLA (1968-69) 41 (Loyola was win #30) 9. Marquette (1970-71) 39 (Loyola was win #22 and #28) 10. North Carolina (1957-58) 37 10. Cincinnati (1962-63) 37 (Streak broken by Wichita State, Loyola beat them in National Championship several games later) In Wichita State's current 34-game streak, Loyola was win #22 and #28. For its part, Loyola had a 31-game winning streak from 1928-30, a 22-game winning streak from 1962-63, a 21-game winning streak from 1938-39 (broken in NIT Final), and a 19-game winning streak in 1985 (broken in NCAA Sweet 16). |

Did you notice who we played in those days--win or lose-- ??? Now we have the likes of Campbell. UC Davis, Furman and other "powers" !! Terrific !! And that , kids, is why no one shows up at Gentile !!!!! MIGAWD !!! Put some decent Names into that Arena !!! No excuses --JUST get it done. |
